If any 1 has any informations about LOFTRO pls post here. I want 2 know when will it officually start, will we have 2 buy it at store or DL and whil we have 2 pay each month or it will be free.
This is a AAA MMO with one of the strongest IP's ever created...being made by a respectful company that has a history of making good games.
With that in mind...
Yes, you will have to pay. It will never be free.
Yes, you will buy it in a box just like every other AAA game made.
It in beta (or will be when it starts... but that is the stage it is in)
Side not: why do people even ask thies questions...and would it have been that hard to go read thier FAQ?

There is no official release date yet. It will have a monthly subscription to play. I don't know if you'll be able to download it, probably not though.
I hope they make the combate actually fun. I'm sorry, but after seeing the gameplay video. I wasn't too impressed with the game. It just seamed too blocky of a combat system. Not to meantion the archer seems really lame.

Well they have announced that the game will be released about November 2006 and there would be a subscribtion fee about 15$/month after the first free month comes when you buy the game tough not officialy announced but that fee is standart for most of the games. You can digitally buy and download the game maybe not in the begining but mostly about 2-3 months later.Altough you can find several online shops which will give you digital buy oppurtunities.
skepticism is the only thing that comes to mind when I think about LoTRO. It could be hit or miss. Turbine is the company I love yet hate. I loved AC, wished AC2 could've been more, but I liked a lot about it. I stood by it til it crapped out. Just not really sure about this one.

to my knowledge turbine has made 3 mmorpg.AC1-which never saw more then 100k at its prime.
AC2- which flopped so bad they closed it
DDO- another flop despite having the licence to D&D behind them.
So i would not call turbine very successful.
You not considering them successful has nothing to do with it. Fact is they make AAA MMO's and are considered among the top companies to do so, the are not an independent developer, or a startup, they do have 3 mmos that did achieve some measure of success even if it doesn’t meet your criteria of "success". It is fact that the company makes quality games that are in line with and among the top of the genre, and are compared and in the same category with SOE, blizzard, mythic, Square Enix, ArenaNet, Cryptic Studios ETC..
My comments were more about market power and Company quality.
I personally have no opinion of the games they have made as I haven’t played them. But I do know the company is among the top of the genre
Combine that with one of the most beloved (and maybe even oldest) IPs and you see how these questions were absurd.

The game just hit Alpha a few days ago, and a friend of mine I talk to from SWG got in. Ill ask him how it is, then tell you guys nothing.

Hmmm..... i hope it will b something like KOL(Knight Online). I like the way you can slide while attacking ,but graphic is not so cool . This game should b right, i mean moovie is awsom than game should b 2.
LOTR:O will be completely free. Free to download and Free to Play. The 10-20 people who have spent 8+ hrs a day for the last 6yrs are just doing it out of the kindness of their heart to give the MMORPG community a decent free game to play and Tolkien's decendants are funding the servers for 25yrs from the profits they made off the movie franchise.
After watching the video, LotRO has an AC2 feel to it. AC2 was my favorite MMOG so I will definitely give LotRO a try. Although I hope Turbine learned their lesson with the disatrous launch of AC2 and delay LotRO launch if it isn't ready. AC2 needed about another year of development. It never had a chance to succeed after it's bug ridden code and incompleteness at launch.
My favorite mmorpg was KOL(KnightOnline), but i stopped playing it cuz there was a lot of hackers. I my self was haked 2 times. I have 3 accounts, each whit 1 character lvl 60, but i dont have items. Any awy what is the point of playing if you can get hacked. I hope LofTRO will not have tht problem .

A Work in Progress.
Add Me
Its like seeing a movie staring Steven Segal og Van Dam...sure they are still making movies....but they all suck.
In other words, seeing the name Turbine on a game just run away...lol
They really need to rebuild there company. The founders should just fire the whole crew, and start over. IMO.
