Vanila EQ2 vs Trail

WolfmythWolfmyth Member Posts: 21
I played the trial and enjoyed it. Now the thing is im thinking of buying EQ2 from sony for 20$ as a download.
How different is just the vanila EQ2 from the trial demo which apparantly had KoS also. I just want to play EQ2 till about X-mass so don't really need/want the expansions. Maybe i'll just buy the adventure packs or something.

I love EQ2 and wished I had bought the store version that included KoS (cause now it would cost me $30 which is too much for me) but I plan to play for a while. If you don't expect to get your character to a high lvl (over say 30-40), then there isn't much use in getting the KoS version (though being able to travel by spires would be very handy).

I would recommend just getting the $20 version and if you really get into it, you can add the adventure packs/expansions later....

If you look around your town in some stores that sell pc games you can find the KoS expansion which comes with the original eq2 game and here it sells for 14.99.  You want KoS becuase when you hit 20 you get start to get aa's, which are gained from discovering new places and quest and such.  You only get this chance once on each toon so you have the potential to rack up more aa's by the end game then you would buying the expansion way later.

On the adventure packs, dont worry about buying any.  The XP fest that was the gnoll one has been nerfed to uselessness and bloodlines is not too rewarding and no one goes there.  The newest one is level 55 plus so wont need that for awhile.  So just go out and find KoS expansion, it should be cheap and will be more productive in the long run even if your not playing forever.

if you really think you'll cut the game off by X-mas time then the $20 digi-distro will be fine. Not much more for the KoS in stores tho. You'll probably hit lvl 30-40 and by then you'll need the other expansion which you'll decide wether or not its worth it.

I second the idea that you look for the retail box.  It’s the same price or cheaper then the download and even if you don’t want KoS content right now you may later and you will want the AA points now.
