I'm beginning to wonder what is going on with this game

it looks pretty good, but I am beginning to think its way off from release. It could be in beta for up to a year and beta hasn't even started yet.
On the other hand, they hired Sony to burn their CD's, so maybe they are planning to release soon with no beta, opting instead to let people pay for the beta process.

You are correct that they are probably behind schedule for starting the beta. However, I wouldn't have expected beta to start until July, so at most, they are a month and a half behind schedule. That could be because of any of a great number of problems - a lot of things have to come together to get a game up and running in a beta-ready state.
some games dont require a long beta. Plus, they may have different standards than other games in regards to their alpha phase. I would bet when they let the first testers in, the game will be very playable and the few months of beta up to release will be more ironing bugs and balancing rather than dealing with graphical optimization, implementation of new mechanics and content integration like many MMOs do with their betas. I dont think they're said too much about their development process as of yet, so dont take my work on that, but i can say there are games out there like this that simply dont require long betas to get where they need to be.
I'm just gonna keep my fingers crossed because i have high hopes for this game. Looks like something i can really get into.
It's better be hated for who you are, than loved for who you aren't.

Goddy, I have a RL friend that I talked with about G&H and for some reason he too doesn't like the graphics. He said the armor looks like it doesn't fit with the characters, like it's warped in from another game or something. He said he sees games like that sometimes and add the bloom effect and it's a total game kill for him. I can't imagine PE wouldn't allow you to disable the bloom, so there's still hope for him to game with me.
In any event, it's a matter of taste. Some people hated WoW and I thought it looked great. It wasn't realistitc, but it was smooth and well designed. I think they hit what they were going for and the game was very consistent with the art. Some people absolutely hate the "cartoony" graphics in WoW. You can pretty much find both sides of the fence on any given game, unless the graphics are just horrid and the folks taking up for it don't deny it but they'll instead pull out something like "oh, graphics aren't important because this game is better than your game."
To me, the graphics in G&H look really nice and I look forward to the game.. as you can probably tell from my avatar/signature at this time.
Hopefully it doesn't disapoint.

Maybe they are looking at screenshots from a year ago. The first build of the game looked retarded. . . If someone doesn't like the graphics now they probably are really saying that they don't like the look of ancient armor, etc. as pretty much everyone who has seen the game gushes over how amazing it looks.
I noticed it when I typed an address wrong. I got the site right, but the page wrong, so the web error I got was a big ol' fat Station.Sony.Com error. Kinda funny, really.
