Just checked BF stats rank. It only show around 270k players.
gamespy or whatever dont show all servers

Not talking about servers or currently playing players.

I was talking about all registered players. If you player BF2, your scores will be recorded in order to raise your military rank. Thus ALL BF2 players have their stats listed. If you go google BF2 stats, you will find there are only 278k BF2 players of all.

    hehe you r right

    mmorpgs sells better

even half life 2 sold only 4 mil

Obviously you don't have a clue what you're talking about kid. Risk players often take in eve are way more than UO ever had. Losing good ship is like you losing your house and all items inside it in UO and that's not even taking into account that someone actually takes ownership of your alliances outpost(house) in eve and blocks you from entering it, that can be massive setback even for big alliances.

Eve is the most advanced MMORPG on the market. It deserves more than 8.4 tbh.

High risk is one reason what make eve interesting, because there isn't safety net that is coded into game by dev. Instead more often it will be your friends, corp and alliance mates who help you back into fight if you lose too much.

Most of good ships are lost because owner is careless and use such ship he wouldn't afford to lose way he shouldn't. It's great way to tell difference between ebayer or someone who have played long when ebayer doesn't have a clue that he shouldn't be flying he's faction battleship with officer modules to HED-GP solo at peak hour.

If lag was server side GMs will be able to see it and simple petition will get you back, but if it was happening your side and nothing in server logs show it. Then you lost it and won't get it back.

I have to laugh at people saying Eve is an interactive screen saver!

As the most complex, involving and exciting mmorpg I`ve played I have to wonder at the levels of ignorance expressed here by the doubters!

Sure the learning curve is steep, and sure there are activities in Eve that are boring if you insist on doing them, but compared to the other MMORPGs on the market Eve is so far ahead its a joke.

I must say though it doesnt deserve 10/10 for lag :)

Oh and you can turn on sun occlusion in the gfx settings :p

Edit: read some more of the posts here and I have to say Thank god most of the whiners quit eve!

Eve is a game you will like or completely disslike. However, i cant believe how people say its a screensaver and shit like that. If you give it a try, at least the 14 day free trial, even though you wont feel everything it might give you, youll realize i think how great this game is. If you compare the pros versus the cons, this game is very worth that 8.4.

And about comparin it with WoW, imo, is just stupid. If youre a little bit objective, youll recognize it.

I can understand though why the EVE players hype the game, because of the buddy program. If an EVE player can give someone a 14 day trial, and they subscribe, then you get in-game prizes from the GMs.

I'm sorry but you really lost all your credibility with this post. You have said several times that you do not have an agenda against eve and up to know I have belived you because most of your posts have been constructive and well written, but this and a few other posts in this thread by you cleary show that it's not about constructive critisism anymore...

I don't know and I don't really care what made you change bu if this is what you really think then I suggest you take a few weeks vacation and use it to think about what you are posting and what you are accusing people of.

And for the record there are 3 winners each month, this month they get a Fleece Sweater, a t-shirt/cap or poster and 3 months subscription. Last month they won EVE-CCG cards. There haven't been ingame prices since several months and the reason? Because the player base thought ingame prices where bad.

/me throws meat to the trolls then starts writing reply

    This is just hiliarious!

I mean come on, I didn't even have to bother to read pages 2-8 to know that it was all going to be about eve being stupid and not as good as [insert mmo]. I mean come on guys/girls get over the Eve bashing. If it isn't your thing because you can't finish a trial and try the RECOMENDED activities rather then going "uh the agent won't tell me to do anything anymore, I don't know what to do... Tell me what to do! ... ... ... Fine [hits quit]" I mean come on people, actually making your own fun finding your own niche rather then having dev controlled npc's getting you to kill said mob for said item.

Bash the game, yeah you got it. Play the game, perform the things EVERY subbed player knows how to. Ie: BMing the next person to say travel is too slow deserves to be slapped, anyone can create a bm and voila only travel is warping everything else is INSTINTANEOUS! Don't mine unless you LIKE IT, TALK TO PEOPLE this game is not a solo game, it is forced grouping without the 'forced'

I could go on for ages about all the half truths people say about the game, only from lack of experience within it, by 5 days you should be down to one or two specialised fields you want to follow, in an area you like playing with a group of people you like. If your doing anything else.. WTF have you been doing.

Eve dedicated player telling trolls to shove it with the 'Eve is ****' threads. Get over the fact it is RATED better then your own! Lemmings...

I disagree that eve is so terrible, it has the most mature community out there, much more mature then THIS site, but thats anouther matter

unlike other games it also forces you to group with other people on a semi permanent basis to survive, makign it mad fun with all the politics and fleet battles and everything

it is really an awesoem game

Eve is the best mmorpg out there atm... I'd play it if they hadnt deleted my character after 2 months of suspended account time... That didn't half piss me off though... I'm sure the data protection act says 6-9 months (so does their website)... But aparently the CSRs cant do shit about it... So until one of my mates leaves and i pinch his account... I'm just f*cking about on other games...

I think EVE is a good game.
It can be boring, but you get what you put into it.

The skill system and openendness of the game is why I rated it high.
The community is so much better than more popular MMOs.

Ofcourse it got an 8.4. It deserves it hands down. It might not be the game you like but lets face it. In today's era of cookie cutter EQ knock offs and vaporware EVE stands alone at the top of quality.

I wouldn't say Eve was a horrible game but I wouldn't say its very original nor better than some of the other MMO's...

Not Original ? Eve is Privateer with pvp. All MMO's are copies of some single player game that has already been made.

I also wouldn't say Eve has really any lore at all. Lore indicates that there is an interactive story line to the game that a player can get involved in. There is none period in Eve because if that was so the general consensus would be that Eve has a good PVE experience. I would say of all MMO's currently Eve has the absolute worst PVE experience I have ever seen. Its basically grind missions that are the same from each agent to the next. Your ffa areas are basically 3 to 4 hour gate camping ordeals as you want for a key to drop while killing the exact same NPC's over and over again. Not to mention the time sink for training. Eve is an a trial by fire for any newbie. You pretty much are locked out of what makes the game so good till you have at least 3 million Skill points trained up. Till then a 0.0 corp will not give you the time of day nor bother with you till you do. 3 Million SP's btw takes at least 3-4 months to get even with learning skills trained up.

Eve also cannot be played casually TILL you get into 0,0 space. Thats when you have the protection of a strong corporation. But before then its hour long travel sessions just to get to an asteriod belt that hasen't been stripped clean by said corps. If you do not have access to the information pathway and a good corp Eve is an excersise in frustration and futility. I have recomended to new people that before they do much of anything in Eve is to get 1 Million SP's ... 3 million before any 0,0 corp will look at you and search for a good corp you can join where you can learn where the action is. If you have no idea where the action is Eve is just a lot of empty pointless space.

So you are living a pipedream if you actually believe Eve offers something better than the other MMO's currently out. Eve is a viable alternative but thats about it.

Far as I know they have never actually deleted any character from inactive accounts, so someone must have deleted it for you or some bug you could have reported. I would try contact Kieron or Wrangler about it, if you aren't getting any help from gms(most of times they should redirect you if they cant help you).

ahh I just read that review.

a lot of crap in it. Some of it very accurate and eve deserves some of his praise. Most of it however reads more like a commercial rather than an impartial review. Generally journalistic quality is judged by the impartiallity of the person involved. its obvious this person was a fanboi.

But really I could read between the lines. The only thing I had strong disagreement is his rating on performance. Umm he obviously was never involved in group scale PVP. Eve's servers cannot handle some of the larger battles that have been executed. I would say that rating should be around 8.

    "EVE the most advanced mmorpg"

don't make me laugh. if anything, EVE took the genre back. Gameplay is even gone slower then usual. annoying mmorpg aspects such as long downtimes, travel times and difficulties to catch up with higher level players who played longer are even worse. even the point click & wait is worse in EVE then other games. PVE in EVE is just pathetic. its even worse then asian grinders PVE. grouping? hahaha...

EVE an advanced mmorpg? yeah, right....

I don't think you've read any of the reviews on this site.  The good parts, and the parts that sounds like a commercial are the impartiality.  They do that with every game out there.  If you read a review on Ragnarok Online, or Rose Online, or Seed, or any of those other games, they say amazing things about the good parts of the game.  Reviewing a game and saying "This is crap, this is crap, and this is crap" would be a horrible review.  Reviewing a game and saying "I respect them for this, loved this, this was alright, this needs improvement" is a good review.

And I've been reading lately about disagreement on the performance.  I played EVE for a good 3 months including some 50v50 and almost 100v100 fights, and I never ran into lag except for one time, and that was when thousands of people launched hundreds of thousands of shuttles in Jita while protesting.  That was the only time that my computer ever lagged, and it's about 4 years old and definitely not high-end.  I've been wondering why EVE didn't have a 10 for performance.

I'm an EVE fanbois and wish that it was rated 7.5 or something, then there'd be alot less of these threads.

Just be glad that Eve has a built in Nubbin filter :)  (sure its only about 80% effective but its better than nothing).
