Having just watched the trailer for Vanguard: SOH. I couldn't help but notice that SOE now had top billing over Sigil, but that's not all. Watch it again, and pay close attention to the look of PC's, how they look and how they move. Anyone else notice the similarities to SWG's engine? Maybe it's just me...

Yes, I'm that much of a SW geek.

I didn't know they switched over to a pure skill based system...
...yeah, I'm guessing they'll fit in well with SOE.
1. Vanguard is a huge hit, and SOE buys it out because they have the cash to do so.
2. Vanguard is a failure and SOE buys it out (cheap) to keep it as a station pass game, and either cuts the development to nothing or uses it as a lab rat test for future gameplay systems in other games.
There is no third possibility.

You saying Sigil will jump ship out the gate?
Well seeming they didn't switch to a skill based system they should fit in perfectly on that part at least
But, since it allows you to fly a dragon over the terrain in such a manner, it'll be D&L killer. After all, that's the only feature that game has.
"There are two kinds of spurs, my friend. Those that come in by the door; those that come in by the window"

Yep. Sigil is a startup. They aren't an established business with a revenue stream, and they exist on borrowed money from venture capitalists. If Vanguard is a hit (say it exceeds 300K subs) they will pressure Brad to sell so they can get a profit on their money. If Vanguard tanks, they will pressure Brad to get what he can out of it.
In either scenario, the purchaser will be SOE.

Yup.
Brad will either sell when...
1. It launches to good numbers and $OE thinks it is hot.
or
2. It looks like the iceberg is almost there... either before or after launch.
Either way.. most bang for the buck.
Don't tell the Vanbois I said it or I'll get more hateful PM's.

It sounds great, so great in fact, I pitty those who canceled - Some deluded SWG fanboi who pities me.
I don't like it when you say things. - A Vanguard fan who does too.

It could serve as EQ2 successor, DnL killer, SWG refuge, and a break from WoW for more casual players.
It is no WoW killer, but it doesn't need to be, especially in light of Warhammer. It's a solid investment, that will pay itself off. Fantasy genre still has lots of followers, despite being primary offering of MMOs.
I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!
In fact, forget the SWG!!!!

As a game that will deliver what DnL didn't.
but
SWG refuge? Class based system .... loot based economy? Sounds like what the NGE was trying to do to me.
and
a break from WoW for more casual players? The only game I've seen that looks more anti casual play then Vanguard is DDO. I know they are saying they are adding more solo content but '20%' does not make for casual player friendly and I doubt the devs they have their hearts in making that content any good.
