I don't want to solo. I want a group. I want crowded cities. I want EQOA Freeport. This game does nothing for my wants.

The servers are busy but the zones are large and people are spread out across a number of zones.  In addition there are no true gathering points where people just hang out, the only place you will routinely see crowds is at the broker in the tradeskill instances.  Even the docks in TS and Nek are no longer gathering points because you don’t need to go through them to get to the KoS zones.

Even if there were places with a lot of people graphical considerations means that there will be a limit on the number of people that are actually displayed.

As mentioned above, you really won't get crowded areas, as there is very little to do in towns other than the broker, the bank, and maybe running around to finish a quest. Plus, especially on the pvp servers, it is not safe to just stand around chatting (outside of a city), so people stay on the move. As for finding a group, it is very much dependant on the time of day and the day of the week. Evenings and weekends are usually very easy to find a group, with mornings being tougher.

I wish this game had a place similar to EQ1's nexus, or Asheron's Calls subway. I miss big gathering spots where you can just hang out and chat. Is that bad? :P

Not a bad thing but if you just want to chat there are a lot of IRC channels that are EQ2 related you could hang out in.

In eq2 you dont need to stop in the pok and get your kei and temp fix.  In eq2 you dont have to stand around and do active trades.

So basically there isnt a reall need for people to mass to one spot.  The SS docks used to be a big gathering place, people dueling, yacking, what have you but people on bare pc specs dreaded loggin into that zone.  Im sure some people remember KoS when it first launched.  150 people spread out over one huge zone and it was still lagging like hell.

There is something that can comfort your want of community though.  There are level chat channels that broadcast over the whole server.  Only downside is there is always a group of immature people who love nothing more then to spam it all day with nonsense, but that is part of the community.
