some newbie questions

iHatePantsiHatePants Member Posts: 33

1. How do I create a normal clone

2. What is a jump clone?

3. I've purchased my first ship and have installed new weapons on it. Although I still don't seem to have the skills required to upgrade my civillian lvl 1 booster shield. What skills do I need to start upgrading ym shield?

4. Im not looking at wanting to command big ships. I'd prefer to fight in a smaller but faster, combat ship (like an interceptor or something). I've been upgrading my skill in piloting frigate ships. Am I going in the right direction?

    1. Regular clones are accessable though clone menu while you are inside the station.

    2. Jump clone is a clone that you can setup in the other station and jump between the two clones every 24 hours. Please note that there are a lot of restrictions and this features will be mostly helpful to people who live in 0.0.

    3. If you right click on any module and go into info it will have a tab that will list skills you need in order to use that module. If you are not sure what kind of module you want. Brouse market, make sure that your range is set to region and "show only  avalable" box is UNCHECKED.

    4. My recomendation to you is to go up in a common way, as in frigate, destroyer, cruser, battlecruser and battleship after you feel comfortable in all the above you can work on interceptor. Doing that will give a good idea on strenghts and weaknesses of all ship types so you know what you up against. You will hard hard times making money if you will go staight to interceptor.

alright cool, thanks for the info.

But I do know I need certain skills  to get shield operation 1. But inorder to get that skill I need engineering 1. But I can't buy that skill off the market. So im confused as to how to get the shield operations 1 skill.

What ship would you reccomend for my playstyle? Im not looking at wanting to control anything too big where I have to look after all sorts of smaller ships. Something good for hit and run. I'll most likely join a corp. and get into PvP when I feel im ready.

Make sure that your not looking Station only for the market, the option is located at the top of the market list. Not all skills are available in everystation

As for a ship any Frig that requires frig III should be useful for hit and run just make sure that your in .4 or below if you attacking players as the Police get pissy if its .5 and above.

Well if you look in the market you will find engeneering and shield operations skills. Number next to the skill represents the level you need to have that skill at. So just look for engeneering. Either do a search or go to skill section, then skills subsection, and then engeneering subsection.

As for ships to earn money I would suggest you get something big because that is the easiest  way to earn money. But for PvP you can go with an interceptor, assult ship or an interdictor. But that is a long way away right now concentrate on getting good frigate, then destoyer and then cruiser.

    Good luck!

If you're wondering about what skills to train, you can check out the Newbie Skills Roadmap for ideas and descriptions of some basic skills combat pilots would want to have trained. It even works in game (in fact should be viewed in game since some links are directly to item data.)
