DAOC vs the world

I have played nearly everyother MMORPG out there and I have to say that DAOC is my favourite. I downloaded the game a week ago and I am hooked. It also has the best looking Armour. WOW armour makes you look like a clown. Everquest 2 armour is so boing, colourless. You would think that they would get it right. I love my Avatars and  I want them to look great, and in DAOC they do. Fantastic. Even though the game is old the graphics are beautiful. And because computers are so much more powerful now than when the game came out you can crank the graphics up to their limit. I thnk the game with the most hideous looking avatars was SWG. They were all ugly. LOL.  The interface on DAOC takes some getting use to, but when you do it is so easy. So if you are new to the game and you don't read the manuals or the faqs and start playing the game and can't get your charcter to do what you usually can get them to do with other MMORPGS don't quit because once you get the hang of ot it is very easy. The game I hate most now and I can't get back into is WOW. I have tried to get back into it because you think it must be a great game because nearly everyone is playing it but you know it is sooooo boring. When you first start playing WOW you think the world is so beautiful then after a while, before you very eyes, it becomes a big colourful mess and makes you want to vomit.

Anyway as far as I am concerned DAOC rules the MMORPG world.

DAoC is my favorite game too.  I just wish more people played it so that the newb zones were populated again.

There has to be some way to get people back into those zones.  Then when people try it out for the first time they will get to experience all of the cool stuff along with others.  If I were the developers at Mythic, finding a way to get people into the newbie zones would be top priority on my list.

    End game is RVR
    Newb zones are PVE

You force the RVR crowd to go to PVE zones you may as well shut the servers down.  RVR is the REASON people play DAOC...   I think they learned that lesson when they tried ToA out...

What they really need to do is stop dorking around with clustered servers and do full server merges.  That way the PVE playerbase is concentrated just like the PVP playerbase is.  Thus the servers will be less empty.  Gareth has the same overall population as any CLUSTER and it always felt full, even at low levels.  The problem with the old servers is that people are spread out all over the place (and the populations are LOW on them) EXCEPT in RVR.   Merge the clusters into 1 server each.  That would solve much of the problem.  (It'd probably also cut costs since they would be able to shut off 3/4 of the damn servers they're supporting.)

I like the PvE as much as the PvP.  That's why I always thought DAoC is so cool.  It's got both so when you bore of one you can do the other.

I do agree with you though about the server clustering.  They should go ahead and just merge them.  I remember reading somewhere that they won't though because of the housing.  I can't remember where I read that.  sorry.

yeah Daoc is the best..   And the answer to you're question, is yes the reason they won't merg them is because of housing... they should just merg the Pve zones as well as the RvR zones and just keep housing clusterd... duh?

yup, after all these years daoc is still the best mmo out.  nobody has managed to do RvR better.  i dont play on the old servers anymore, but gareth has been packed since its release.  always grps to be had for pve and rvr.

I like both PvE and RvR in DAoC, since there are several expansions it never gets really boring... Now that Trials of Atlantis has been made more easy, the game is really great.

DAoC is my favourite game also I wish like alot of people that more people played after all new people complain because the lack of lowbies around but how does complaining and making less new people not want to play help? I think a new expansion is a good idea to try get more people to play DAoC but i do not think it will make as much difference as the release of Catacombs as too many people are saying that DAoC is outdated and dead.

Yet i shall still play alone waiting for someone to group with in the depths of Avalon City on Percival with my buff bot life less hoping that one day i will be able to revisit the Crystal Cave and slay Xanxicar once more.
