Hi all,
I was wondering if one day GL would let another take the lead in the movie franchise and LEC were to make a KOTOR type movie, what would the best format be? Either a Big Screen release or a Miniseries similar to "Taken". Personally I think it should be a 8 part 2-3 hr episodic miniseries, this gives it more time to develop the characters, story, and a chance to see more of the planets that where in the game. So what do you all think?

I know Steven Speilberg has been trying to get his hands on Star Wars since the 80s, dont know where he stands on that right now. Lucas and Speilberg have worked together plenty of times, so if he allowed anybody else to handle Star Wars, it would be Speilberg without a doubt, and as long as it dosent turn out like War of the Worlds ill be happy with it.
Although from more of a hardcore Star Wars fan point of view instead of a movie go'er POV, id have to say I dont want anymore Star Wars movies, most of the EU stuff and, some argue, the prequels have "ruined" it enough for me. I like the prequels, but I hate 99% of the EU.

Kate beckinsale should balista or balise or whatever her name was the jedi gal. I remember playing that thinking how cool that would be if it was movie and she was that jedi girl would be awesome

I don't really care for the KOTOR era...
A miniseries featuring the the original trilogys timeline however, filmed from both the Empire and the Rebellions point of view, with stormtroopers and rebel troopers....I would be all over it, be it movie or series.
As in a less jedicentric and "hero" view, but more aimed at showing all the other characters not lifted to "heroes" in the movies.
An episode of TK-421, from when he enlisted, his training, his beliefs, and eventually the day his dreams died by the hand of a rebel blaster. Or rebel officers/pilots/troops. Corsec etc.
You know, you could have whole lines of miniseries and series of Star Wars, Original Trilogy timeline shows.
A Corsec Crime show, fighting the anti-alien sentiment growing on Corellia and the rebel sabotage attemtps.
A "A-team/tour of duty/COPS" themed series, featuring 2 squads, one rebel spec force squad and one imperial storm commando squad...Fighting for their cause, and sometimes being pitted against eachother. Do they hate eachother and think eachother sissies, or do they learn to respect the others skills, tactics and heroism?
A "24" themed show, pitting a Imperial Intelligence officer against planetwide or even galaxywide disasters, caused by Black Sun operatives, Rebel operatives or even Jabba.
There's a whole galaxy out there, with all the lore and history needed to create stories that will thrill and put Star Wars fans and others in front of the TV or bigscreen. And thats just from 1 timeline
We want and need more Star Wars, but ol' George don't have the imagination nor skills to see past the glowbats he once created.

Maybe Robert Rodriguez could direct it... or whoever did the Pirates of the Caribbean flick.

I was seriously laughing at that....nice post.
As dumb as his statement is Malick, it could have been worse, he could have said Obi-wan. Still to this day I believe Obi-wan is the greatest Jedi ever, and no, I dont believe that just because of the Prequels, as hard to believe as it is im smarter than that.

Hi,
Well I always liked the story of KOTOR. It was well written and thats one of the reason I think it could be made into a good movie [in one form or another]. The other reason is I like many elements of the EU, it helps make people aware that the original SW movies and it's character are only one story that is happening in one sector of the galaxy at a particular time, and that there is more going on. Also KOTOR took place far enough in the past of the SW universe that it would have minimal impact of other time periods other than providing a good background story and good entertianment.

Hi again,
I wish there was a way to let LEC know that many would like to see a KOTOR movie. I have to admit it just seems strange that there isn't anything releated to SW coming out soon movie / TV wise....lol. I know the TV show is slated to come out around 2008-2009 [the last I heard]. To me it would just make since to produce something like this just to help keep the franchise going and therefore LEC...lol.

Hi,
A new starwars movie in the timeperiod of KOTOR would be perfect, the storyline is there allready, find a few actors and shoot.
btw. what you guys think about a movie taking place at the forming of the republic and the jedi.

I realize I said I quit. I never said it was forever

I am pretty sure that any movie about SW must be done by Lucas, personnally.
A mini serie only require it approval on the other hand.

QFE, GREAT IDEAS!
Too bad LA, LF, or whatever comes up with the ideas for the expansion of the IP aint this creative...

I would agree he was the first (at least in the movies) to achieve blue glowey status. Though I liked (loved) the origanal actor far better than the new one...
