Looking for PvP/RP game!

I've been searching for days now, googling, asking, picking random MMOs.. trying to find an MMO with good gameplay on it. I've been playing WoW now for over a year and half, been to other MMOs too, but so far none can match up to World of Warcraft's gameplay, and its starting to get old.

Now I need some help, all my friends are getting tired of playing WoW and its time we take a break and leave WoW to a better MMO (If there is one) We really want to play on a good pvp game, but with really great role playing and a nice MMO world. We are waiting for Age of Conan , but thats not going to be for awhile.

Is there a game that exist out there that is very player bases run, really good realistic pvp, and your actions in pve and/or pvp effects the world ? Is there a game where your guild can build and run your own city and can take over other cities besides SWG? Or is Age of Conan going to be the first of its kind?

I thought about SWG.. but that game just sucks now.

Any help, suggestions?

I've suggested it before to someone els, today, but i'll say it again: Neverwinter Nigths. Now, it's not an MMORPG. It qualifies as an MORPG, with servers holding around 60-80 people. But.. The toolset in this game is amazing. People create their own worlds, and custom content for the game(Some servers uses over 1gig of custom content, ranging from new mobs and items, to new tiles and buildings). There is a gameserver for EVERYONE. If you want PvP with roleplaying, i'd suggest you try Narfell. The setting is forgotten realms, near the city of Peltarch. Great fun, great community. There is also Vivii(Think that was the name), which got 400+ areas to explore, interresting crafting proffesions(Want to be a miller? Maybe an brewer? This is the server for you!). With the toolset, it's quite easy to update the server regulary(Specially since the module is only stored on the host's PC, you only need to get all the non-standard contents in .hak packs), where you could basicly build your own house, then send the file to the hoster and get it online within 5 min.

The PvP is ofcourse following the(hardcoded) DnD 3.0 ruleset.

    I second that NWN recommendation.

In fact, I don't play any MMORPGs currently, but went back to Neverwinter Nights. Yes, it's an old game (about 4 years now) and that shows in the graphics but I'll take gameplay above graphics every day of the week. And yes, NWN is not massive multiplayer but the smaller server populations are okay enough for me - and in many cases it makes for a tighter community.

But what you get is variety (more than 4.000 player-build modules), choice (hundreds of servers), everything from light to heavy role-playing, quests galore and PvP as much or as little as you want.

I maintain this List of Sandbox MMORPGs. Please post or send PM for corrections and suggestions.

NWN2 is comming out somwhere next month. I suggest you wait until than (althjough nwn1 is still - the only real roleplay moltiplayer option)

NWN on most servers don't really have PvP. Just some arena duels. You can't really have a good PvP in a multiplay game. You need a real MMO for true PvP. NWN has fun PvE though. RP part, well I am not so sure it's that good as other mentioned...not from what I saw.

And as you want a better game than WOW. First thing you need to know is, PvE part there isn't any real difference in ALL MMO. As for PvP, there are quite some games with much better real PvP. Lineage 2, EVE, DAOC, all have much better PvP than WOW"s fake PvP.

You can check this thread for PvP videos and screenshots

    PvP/RP
    Chalk/Cheese
    Oil/Water
    Cats/Dogs

The two don't really go together, the aims and ideals of the different types of player aren't mutually compatible.

You wanna go from WoW to a PVP Game? Was WoW your first MMO? I take it that it was.

I'm sorry to inform you that the entire time you've been playing WoW... you have yet to see PVP. The thing they call PVP in WoW is more of a mini-game.
