Hello all!
I would just like to voice my opinion on Free Game Haters, these are the people who go to every free game and post these absurd comments on how Ugly or how Bad the game is when they haven't touched the game at all. These are usually the people who have enough money to pay a damn monthly fee.
Not all of us have that kind of money. Although I do have to agree that free games usually lack in the creativity department and the graphics, but what can one expect from a game being supported by ads and/or in game items? If you people would stop comparing free games to the games you play like WoW or whatever it would make this place a better and more informative place for gamers to enjoy. Stop complaining and go play a P2P game..

Just as IRL, I don't care if something is free or not... if I like it I'll buy/use it, if I don't like it I see no reason to spend my focus on it.
The reason why games are free is because the developers know they can't really charge cash for it because it's just too crappy or old. Anyone saying that there's also games made for the fun of it, that may be true but once the word gets out about it being a brilliant game they'll get lots of players and people willwant to cash in on it, if only to make up for server and maintenance costs.
Other 'free' games aren't free at all, There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch.
Just not by our P2P standards eh?
I'd say they arent fun by our normal, human standards that want a game that is engaging, beautiful, giant and full of content. $15 or so a month is not alot of money to pay for something that provides hours and hours of solid entertainment. But if you wanna be cheap and play crappy free online games then go ahead, but dont expect people to not call what you play a piece of poo, because it is.
Played and enjoyed: EQ1, DAoC, WoW
Played and disliked: Guild Wars, WAR
Currently playing: Nothing
Waiting for: Mortal Online
It is more about how P2P people mindlessly bash free games.. <.<;
If you say so...

- first your topicnam "free game haters" is a nice effort to get flames
- you then state that because YOU don't have the cash to P2P WE should all "stop complaining and play a free game"
Your whole post is nothing more than a flamebait.
Why would I bother with what you have to say (or vice versa ofc). I look at games, see them for what they are and come to a conclusion... Free games STAY free because they're not up today's standards, both graphically as emersion wise. Why would I waste my time on something I don't like JUST because it's free.
Well, really... There are good free games (Yup, I didnt read the first post)
And...
Hmm...
And the one who hates and shouts that why cant WoW be free is really stupid...
I mean of course, gaming costs if you want good quality...
Where do the makers get money? Itemshop? Bah...
Its not about money for me.
With MMORPG's I see a bunch of fat cats at Sony hiring starving programmers from India. They spend a few mil developing a game, make all the money back + a profit just by selling the box, then they spend the next 5-10 years cashing in on the fanbase.
I don't believe in joining the cycle of consumption.
Guildwars, BF2, Allegiance
Thats all you need. No monthly fees.
If you feel the need to sponsor an artist, get an Eve subscription.
CCP is a small company doing great things, they deserve support.
I will not support Sony or Blizzard, the same way I won't support McDonalds.
The problem I have with "so called" free games is that they really are not and therefore are deceitful.
Most of these games which are Korean btw have in game shops and sell advantages. Obviously someone is paying to play these games. Once you admit honestly that many are paying to play these games, otherwise they would be charging for either the initial download or a monthly fee, then it is fair to compare their low quality to a P2P MMOG and bash them for it.

it really bothers me to see people who use their mommy's credit card and then say some of us are to ghetto to pay subscription.
i am a full time university student monday to friday from 7 AM when i leave home till 5:30 PM when i get back home then its eat supper do assignments and go out with friends or stay home playing MMORPGs or something then to bed at around 1 AM
during the sumemr i work 40 hours week and can make about 5-6k$ total.
guess what, school costs me 7k$
now i dont think some of us can aford to pay 15$ month for MMOGs
i am lucky my parents still let me live at home and eat their food at no charge because im still in studdies and im performing well...
so in no means people that cant aford 15$ month are not ghetto...
actually we are less ghetto that some people out there who spend their days playing MMO since they wake up at 9-10 am till they go to bed 2-3 AM and only get up to piss...
My question is... WHY don't you have enough money to pay a monthly subscription? It's hardly expensive, most unemployed people could afford $9 a month for gods sake. The only people that can't afford subscription fee's are usually children, and this in turn is why free games are usually so bad, because the children that wish they could pay subscription fee's flock to them!
Answering the OP:
Well, I would think the point is more that those of us who do not like the free games do not feel that the rating system for games should be applied comparatively between the free and pay to play games; they should have their own rating systems and take the payment part of it out of the equation. Then, instead of someone rating a game just because it's free to play, would give a more accurate reveiw of said game based on its graphics, sound, customer service, etc.
Too many times people will rate a game highly due to the game being free, while they neglect the real qualities of the game itself. If you had to choose between a Yugo and a BMW, most likely you would take the BMW, because you know the BMW is known for being a performance machine and high quality. Your decision would be made on things such as prestige, speed, appearance, gas mileage (which may be the only thing in favor of the Yugo, possibly), durability, warranty, and other things. But if you now had to PAY for one of these vehicles, and you could not afford the BMW, would you then say "Oh, that BMW sucks man!" No, I don't believe you would, because whether you are paying for something or not does not change it's qualities. Just because you would have to pay for either car, does not mean the BMW is now a broken down wreck because you can't buy it...it's still the better made machine, and if you could have afforded it then it's probably what you would have selected. And it's the same for games.
Anyway, like I'd said, I don't believe pay to play games, and free games, should be in the same listing. More people by default will play the free games...either they are cheap, or they choose not to pay. But because of this they will generally inflate the ratings of the free games higher than paid game ratings. I'm sure that the ratings of subscription games like WoW, EQII, and the like would suddenly find themselves with ratings 9+ if they were to became totally free. Price is not something that should be included in the rating of a game.
ive played some really great free games it's just really hard to find a good free game now in days....if u do compare yes other games kick there ass 10 times over but some free games can be fun....
I simply adore idiots who assume that everyone they encounter on the internet lives with their mummy. Maybe you still live with mommy and daddy, big boy, personaly I've been living on my own since I was out of high school.
Lucky you, when I went to school I had to hold down a full time job while doing so. That usually meant classes 8-4, work 5-11:30, and then studying until 3 in the morning. I usually didn't get much sleep till Friday. Guess what? I had the fifteen bucks to spend on an mmo, it was Anarchy Online, and I usually found time to play it.
Man, I hope you don't live in a capitalist country, because if you don't have enough ingenuity to earn an extra $0.50 a day while living under mommy's roof, you're pretty much fucked.
That's a double negative, might want to brush up on your English skills before school rolls around again.
I didn't know people like that exist, but ok. You live with your mommy and don't have 15 bucks a month to spare. You're ghetto.

ouch....
ithink i got owned....
though i admit it was my choice not to get a job from 5:30 till 11:30 since 3D modeling assignments can take up alot of time. and my free time i choose to spend it with gf and friends. so yeah... for some its just not worth payint 15$ month for 2 hours a week of MMO. but recently i started a business (in the field) and i am managing to get my 15$ month so ill be resubing to a MMO and i have time (ryzom looks good)
If you have a computer, you have the money to "at least" pay for one good MMO. 15 bucks a month is "nothing" for all the time spend on it. It's the equivalent of one cheap restaurant or movie.
Are you telling me you're so poor that all you can do is sit in a rocking chair all day, doing no such activities at all?
Even then, i'm pretty sure someone in your family or friends would have pity over your soul and pay it gladly for you... God, this is not the third world. You SHOULD have the money to pay for a game if you have the money to get a computer that can run it!
What deserves to be done, deserves to be "well" done...

hey i use a rocking chair for my computer at home and it kicks @$$
and its time to put your foraging game skills to the real life test (find 15$ month)
that was more of a comical relief rather than an actual serious post
Totally free games (not GW, but totally free ones, that charge neither for client nor subscription) should be in a separate category. Comparing them to pay games isn't fair to either game.

Personally, I don't see how subscription based MMOGs are gonna survive this onslaught. I just hope some good can come from this...
most of the P2P games are of quality, even if i dont like WoW i think it has tremendous quality in the programming, NPC, graphics, models etc... starwars galaxies (pre-Cu of course) continous updates (but moslty nerfs) and tech support although slow was present. EQ is a great game always improving graphics always new expansions
F2P well the game can have no change for months. servers close without hesitation, you loose characters and like its F2P there is no tech support... why would some one help you if they get nothing in return. you lost your characterlvl 99? oh well what do i care, you didnt pay anything for it make a new one. server crashes often. and they all look almost the same.
P.S make difference between free MMO and Private servers.
it works the same way as free software lots are free but poor quality.
so P2P will stay here for a long time because people want quality over quantity.
people who can pay will pay.
hell if they can sell a paper origame of a rock (just a crumbled piece of paper) on ebay for 6$ they can pay 15$ for a monthly subscription

i hated to0 when i hear people bashing free game when they havent play it!!! atleast play it first then bash it!
theres this girl-friend i kno from lineage2..... i introduce her to Gunz Online and Silkroad Online..... she checked out the screenshots..... she says
"eww its ugly"
she act like she never play a free game b4! and ofcource the graphic cant beat pay2play lineage2! also my bro.... i convince him to try silkroad online..... he refuse!!! he says he dont like the graphic!!! ofcourse it sucks compare to pay2play lineage2 graphic! but silkroad is the best graphic of all low-budget free2play game out there!!!! and its quite go0d for a free game!!!
amateur gamers jus have no brain!!!! all they go for is the graphic alone!!! they need to think 3 demensional not 1!
