THESE are the kinds of threads that make it so that anyone who wasn't there just doesn't understand why we're all so ticked.
My best friend was one of the first Jedi to unlock on Shadowfire. I was at his house for our annual New Years RP party when the music played and the thunder crashed and he got to create his new character. I'll never forget the excitement we had for him...there's no way someone who just logged in for the first time and clicked 'Jedi' will ever know what that was like.
One of my favorite stories from him was a time he was out grinding Lightsaber experience on Sharnoff's in the wee hours of the morning. Another character came along and asked to join the group and fought alongside him and two other guildies for an hour or two...then at the exact opportune moment when my Jedi friend was at low HP the BH that had joined them shot him dead, jumped on his bike and rode off.
All he could do was tip his hat to someone with that kind of patience and skill. Like Shayde, that's what it SHOULD be. It gave the game excitement, meaning, and RP. In my friend's eye, that BH was a true pro, a worth adversary, and someone he would never forget...as close to a SWG 'Boba Fett' as one could ask for.
    *Big Sigh*

the great loss of xp is acceptable loss if killed by a BH

permadeath would be to frustrating but would control the jedi population alot in those times... if jedi permadeath was implemented in the NGE system it would also control the population of jedi/BH and have more diversity. cuz some people will just not want to work on something that if they do little mistake then all work completely gone. in that time era jedi was rare and like you say, THEY LIVED IN FEAR.

it took what 3 times more xp per skill box and gained 1/3 of the xp a normal char would get?

so yeah in the NGE if permadeath was implemented for clicky jedi it would solve lots of problems

If they just had kept the path to jedi a total secret and random. The jedi grind both holo and village was bad for SWG.

That is why I didn't take part in the hologrind.  Throughout my entire pre-publish 9 days, I was a ranger/rifle/CH mix.
