I hate when people say "Same difference". ARGH!

What else, oh I hate "coulda woulda shoulda"

and "it's not meant to be"

    and "Is it in yet?"

So if I went to a store that was supposed to get a shipment of Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts in the mail that day, and I wanted to find out if they had arrived, would I be wrong to say "Is it in yet?"
Or let's just say one were really drunk and had a condom on, would "Is it in yet?" not be an appropriate phrase? I mean, a condom takes away almost all the feeling anyway, then throw a night full of jaeger bombs in there, and I think that is a very pertinent question.

If you were to read a variety of novels - 'Of Mice and Men' is probably the best example here - you would see that speech is in fact, VERY often 'incorrectly' punctuated, as it gives rhythm and feeling to the words and makes statements less ambiguous, as it is more obvious how something was intended to be put across.

And, "MY GOD HOW STUPID ARE YOU?" is in fact a perfectly valid statement in the context of speech, because how those words were shouted, there was no actual address given to God, but rather, I used his name as an expletive within the phrase 'HOW STUPID ARE YOU?'

My punctuation is perfectly fine when it needs to be - at the moment however, my intention is not to seem like I am writing an essay, but to write as I would sound were I to be talking.

Oh, and if you REALLY want an infallable excuse... You have but to look at the phrase often said to drummers upon meeting them for studio recordings by MDs/other musicians, "Typical drummer... Always talking in f*cking rhythm."

In closing, a question for you. How do you punctuate 'hello how are you'? Bet ya you can't get it right!

    'hello, how, are, you'?

    Hello, how are you?

Modjoe is right in every point he made against you, you are simply too ignorant to realise your own faults.

As I stated before, you lack poetic license, unless you have some work published? If so, links please. If not, stop comparing yourself to Steinbeck. You have no right to misuse the English language, whereas he does.
It's correctly punctuated "Hello, how are you?"
Who was your high school grammar teacher?

EDIT: In the future, the punctuation mark always comes inside the quotation marks. So, 'hello how are you'? is gramatically incorrect in every sense.

So Khuzzarz, I suppose you have never in your life made a mistake?   And another post targeting Americans.  How original.  I supposed people from Great Britain never make grammatical mistakes?

OH GOD, I started a sentence with the word "and" and I most likely forgot to put an ' on one or more words.

This is why Americans hate the British, the British hate Americans, and the the Reason why the English language is dead. Everyone makes a mockery of it, reffering to the English language, and why not many people can speak it correctly.

P.S. I just thought I would like to inform the public that the proper way to speak the English language no longer exsists.

THAT IS NOT F*CKING CORRECT!!! MY GOD HOW STUPID ARE YOU?! READ WHAT YOU'RE WRITING AND ACTUALLY TRY AND UNDERSTAND IT!

*deep breath* The correct phrasing is "I could not care less what you think."

Think about it. Saying you 'could care less' means that you do actually care slightly, as there is a state of mind you could be driven to where you would care less than you currently do about something. Whereas, 'could not care less' means you care as little as is ever to be possible for you about something, as there is no lower on the 'caring' scale you could get to.

    Understand?

    You'd better.

    Hope you've learnt something today.

    How about....I don't give a sh*t what you think.

At least you were original by bashing Americans. haven't seen that before.

This is why, in my opinion, the English language is the most complicated language I've ever heard.

He Isn't picking on their grammar, He's picking on the stupidity of the phrase and the fact that it means (almost) the opposite of what those saying it mean.

Speaking of pet peeves, I hate it when you injure yourself in plain view of people and the first thing they say is:

    "are you all right?"

That drives me nuts. What, do they think you leaking vital bodily fluids is a regular occurance?

    Give the man a cookie!

Apologies for the aparent 'ignorance' - I was a little off my head last night... And as such, very sarcastic ^^

As for my original post, that was intended - as has been suggested - as not an attack on grammar (I just played along with the grammar stuff coz at the time it was funny - doesnt seem to be this morning though lol), just on stupidity. It is not incorrect grammar to say 'i could care less', it's just incorrect english.

PS. According to the English Language professor at my mum's university, it is a little known fact that the correct punctuation for 'hello how are you' as was the original use of it, is 'Hello; how are you?"... Weird, no? I still think he was having the class on tbh, but he did give some pretty good arguments aparently... Oh, and when I asked that question, I did not want to make the quote into the question, so was under the impression that the punctuation should have gone outside of the apostrophe... Am I wrong there?

PPS. Though I was kidding last night... I do see no reason looking over my arguments that I was wrong... Why does it matter if I have not published any works? I can claim poetic license over anything I create (write) as far as I can see... Why shouldn't I?
