MMORPG and DirectX 9.0b installation troubleshooting.

I've tried to play couple of MMORPG titles listed in this site, and I found that many of this titles require you to have DirectX 9.0b installed (i.e. SWG, KO, etc)

So I tried to install DirectX 9.0b since currently I've got 8.1.

But the problem is that near the end of installation, it says my current window XP version doesn't match up with DirectX 9.0b version that I've tried to install. So I went to Window XP update site to check whether I have most upto date version and it says there are nothing to update.

At the end, I kind of find it gay and still continued on to search on what could possibly prevent me from installing it. I checked my system spec whether my graphics/sound card and its up-to-date drivers support DirectX 9.0b. The manufacturer's page says it does.

And since then I've been asking where the hell is the problem... It still doesn't let me install it nor can I find any generic troubleshooting info from MICROSOFTA'S useless dumb tech support site.

Looks like the generic troubleshooting info can be found, as usual, always outside of MICROSOFTA tech support site, somewhere out there.

Did anyone gone through similar sort of problem?

I really need DIRECTX 9.0b installed badly. Any information on how to troubleshoot this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like it's not the same problem. I don't have antivirus nor ZoneAlarm fire wall software installed.

but I have plan to do so as soon as this problem get resolved.
