Nvm, pardon my ignorance, just noticed Dekrons post.

Since you have made this a public affair, I will respond to it publically. I find it much easier though to discuss disagreements through email so as not to bother others with what is essentially a private matter. A simple email to me at stradden@mmorpg.com would have sufficed in order to get me to have a look at the thread and give you a reason for the deletion. I carefully examine each complaint on a case-by-case basis when they arrive in my in-box.
That being said, I will address your concerns:
Your original thread was flamebait. It wasn't what was said, it was the tone in which it was said. This first off, is against our rules and should have constituted a warning.
"Inciting - The creation of a thread which is intended only to provoke members into breaking forum rules." - MMORPG.com RoC
You have also rezzed a thread not once, but THREE TIMES:
Resurrecting Locked or Deleted Threads - If a thread has previously been deleted or locked by a moderator, it is against our rules to start another thread on the same topic. If a participant in a locked or deleted thread re-starts the thread, a warning and 1 day ban will be issued. If this happens twice, the member will be permanently banned, no exceptions.
You have recieved 3 warnings within the last 6 months. The exact wording fo our rules are as follows:
For purposes of our rules, we will work under a 3 strikes policy. A first warning results in a 1 day ban. A second offence results in a 7 day ban and a third offence results in a lengthy and possibly permanent ban. Warnings and bans remain active for these purposes for 6 months.
As stated by others, our moderators had hoped to "cut you some slack" on the issue.
Further, and to the current thread:
As stated above, there was no real need to make this a public issue. There was a simple miscommunication which could have been easily cleared up via email. However:
Posting Other's Personal Information Without Consent - It is against our rules to post the personal information of other people without their consent. This includes, but is not limited to, email correspondence, contact information, photographs, financial information and social security numbers. It is to the moderator's discretion to decide whether or not the line has been crossed.
You have also personally attacked our moderating team, and in my opinion, done so without cause.
Flaming and Personal Attacks - Posting within our forums and personally attacking other MMORPG.com users constitutes harassment and will not be tolerated at MMORPG.com. Example: Telling someone that their argument is idiotic is tolerated, while calling someone an idiot, is not.
Their job is to enforce the rules of conduct. It isn't always an easy job, and they work hard at it daily. If any of our members have an issue with our rules, they should feel free to email me at stradden@mmorpg.com and I will be happy to address it with them. The moderators don't make the rules, they just try to make sure that everyone follows them.
I can understand a desire and actually a need to "stick it to the man" when "the man" is doing something that they shouldn't. In this case though, all that we are trying to do is provide a fun place for people to post about games. With this many members though, rules have to be made and enforced. Without them, forums like these wouldn't be able to operate and certainly wouldn't be much fun to anyone but a small handfull of people.
Yes, there are times when fighting the system is not only ok, but is actually important. But doing so for the sake of doing so, before other options have been exhausted, can be counter-productive. I have said before, and will say again that my only concern is that people feel comfortable enough here to have a good time without causing undue headaches for others. I do not abuse my position as Community Manager, and if I did, I would expect to be fired. The same goes for any moderator on this site.
I am sorry for the lengthy reply here, but I felt the need to defend the moderating team, as I feel that they are very good at what they do. I'm not saying that mistakes don't happen. I've made them, but I don't feel that a mistake has been made here. Our rules were broken time and time again, and the moderating team must enforce the penalties for that.
I hope that clears everything up.
Cheers,
Jon "Stradden" Wood, Community Manager, MMORPG.com

I'm sorry Stradden, but would you please care to explain to me how someone can type in a tone? No offence, but that just makes no sense to me at all. The OP has been trying to bring the subject to everyone's attention so it can be publicly adressed, and if this site is being run in a democratic fashion there should be no problem with that. Locking a post and making it so that the person is not allowed to post their concerns publicly comes close to taking away our freedom of speech. I also question the fact the mods are able to lock a post without leaving notes on why it has been locked, or at least informing the OP.
There is a definate difference, if you aplly the same logic to more serious words, Im sure you get the picture.
(not defending either party, just making the point that you CAN in fact set a tone in writing).... well in my opinion anyway...
You noobs...

Exactly, and yet there didn't seem to be any of that in britoca's OP. This leaves me to question how mods are deciding what is, and what isn't something that can be locked.
As I said, mistakes do happen. Anything that was not done, or was not done properly will be handled as appropriate.
The thread was locked because it violated our rules of conduct. If you would like to discuss the matter further, then I look forward to receiving your email.

Hopefully this is done and over with. I hate to see contributing members leave over such a miscommunication.
