The owners/editors here have seen this fiasco happen from day one but have said nothing against DnL. And they apparently don't want to give an honest review that has been asked for over many months time. DnL should have been removed by now, the same way Mourning was. Perhaps Farlan is playing the old Mourning "We will sue you!" bit? I doubt it, since anyone would tell them they don't have so much as a wooden leg to stand on, but you never know. Hopefully, we'll get some answers soon.

I never played mourning thank goodness! But the only 2 reasons that I can think of that mmorpg.com hasn't written a review yet is...

    1) The poor mmorpg reporter can't get into the damn game like so many others.

    2) They expect the game to keel over any day and they are saying to themselves "Why bother!".

Reguardless, it would be nice to see mmorpg.com put their signature on DnL's coffin and not be noted for saying nothing about a game that damaged the mmorpg world, at the very least, for new, small companies trying to get a start in the mmo business.

I agree DnL was damaging for the whole MMO genre. I hope that devs out there with new and original ideas are not scared away by DnL's demise.

Because really, it wasn't even so much the bugged, broken and poorly unfinished code in my mind that made DnL fail. It was the arrogant, lying devs behind it. Their silence, lies, and general disdain for their paying customers was what killed DnL IMO.

I feel that had they had the stones to just step up and admit they had bitten off more than they could chew, they were working on it and would provide frequent updates, they may have even retained enough customers to stay alive for awhile.

Asking the customers directly, and in a completely honest way, "What do you want us to work on the most?" "Here is what we have been trying to fix these last two weeks", that kind of communication will pay huge dividends from your fanbase.

But no, they chose to ignore, flame, insult, and deceive their very revenue source. The sheer stupidity of their actions is mind-boggling, honestly. If I were whomever had made the mistake of investing in this train-wreck, I'd be demanding Vuarr and Farlan's heads!

This game is still live?  I would have thought it would have folded by now.  I keep getting emails from this company telling me about free access.  I was already bilked for a pioneer account.

Very odd that there hasn't been a review, or even a first month/two months, touch with it. Has  anyone tried asking for an official response from MMORPG.com as to why and when/if to expect anytying?

I played after inital launch for a month at first.  I finally got tired of a nothing filled world.  It wasn't fun at all.  If a better known game company took this over it might have a chance.  I'm willing to guess the team working on this game numbers >5.

I realize you are all waiting with baiting breath for the aforemention review, but it should go without saying that it won't be released until it's ready. I'm sure the people who will read it are quite tired of half-finished products by now.

That being said I'm not to sure that any review will satify anyone still following the game. I'll refrain from using the dreaded S-word so you'll just have to wait. Hopefully you all are playing something fun in the meantime.

I am actually playing some funt things now.  I remember when DnL launched, there were lots of posts from people defending the game on this forum.  It seems to have died down now.  I only looked at this forum because I wanted to rate an upcoming game.  I like the ratings system you havem but I don't like the paid reviewers being able to post a good rating for something, but there isn't anything you can do about it.

There's always defenders. What their motivation is is purely stupid. Well, I take that back. Even I have a price. If Farlan offered me a cool 10g's tax free, I'd defend them for a few days. After that, the sick feeling would return and they would have to bribe me again.

I don't know about that, remember the outbreak of whatever the whole dev team came down with?

I'm a little confused though, not to rush the writing or reviewing of course but why is it taking so long to write an article on a game that's been released a pretty fair amount of time now? And from what I can tell, there isn't exactly a thousand and one game releases to keep you going 24hr's a day.

Basically what I'm asking is, because I am completely ignorant about the reviewing process, where does it stand as of now, could you possibly elaborate the particular steps you've taken to review this game specifically?

Oh and another question if you please, (hehe, sorry ), do you take special care in reviewing a game that has thus far garnered some very high critiques from the community, just to make sure you give it a fair chance?

How do I defend myself against someone who keeps puckering and winking at me?

I am not doing the review as I am unwilling to reconfigure my computer enough to run the DnL client although you can look forward to me mumbling incoherently in a weekly peice.

It's *still* in the works. For some reason our boss (Lepidus) always found something that could be rated a bit worse than it was, so, it took some time to get the final score to the abyssmally low level it is at now, but it sure as hell was worth it, imo.  Dunno when the review is going to be released. I am waiting for it myself

LOL! I don't know whether to laugh or cry!

I told a guy on another thread that it was the people/guild that kept me interested in SOG. I will always hold to that. We had some good times. It just blows my mind that I couldn't see it coming. I guess that is why I gave _Pix_ such a line of questioning. I was trying to find out what it was that Farlan offered that drew so many beleagered gamers in?!?!(Besides the false promises.) I imagine the biggest influx was from the jaded SWG refugees. But for people like myself who were simply looking for the next big name MMO, perhaps it was a smalll name company making the jump to MMO immortality that drew us in, and we just got taken along for the ride....

Oh well! There are evildoers no matter where go. Thanx for the response Inferno! Much appriciated!!!

We can honestly say that Farlan/NP3 had their chance. There is only so much a game's playerbase will endure though. I think Farlan did just about everything that can be done wrong, in the worst possible way. Should they ever again produce a game under that name, it will be a commercial flop before it's even released. That's the downside of the MMOG industry right now: there are just too many unskilled dev teams working on games, which want a share of the big cake, but which suck so badly at what they do, that it is a pain to even write about it. I read just now that Archlord supposedly sucks badly aswell. *sigh* Will there ever be another MMOG as popular as WoW? I really hope so, because I never liked WoW - although it has decent graphics, the artificial quests and uselessness of player-action in that game really turned me off. I'm currently looking forward to Chronicles of Spellborn, but to be realistic, it is also a game produced by a small no-name company, which in the end may suck as much as DnL did. I just pray to the God of MMOGs that this will not be the case.
