Unplayable Game

I'm not sure what it is like in the US but in Europe for the last three months the games has only become more and more unplayable, each patch appears to add more faults then fixes, server lag and disconnections are common place, just look at the offical forums.  Increasingly questions about the problems are answered with cut and paste responses about it all being problems on the client end or the post's are removed.   Actual answers from any official source are non-existant.

It's a pity that another good game is being run in to the ground by the desire to keep the share holders more happy then the customers and by decisions made by executives more interested in paychecks then the customers.

With the millions of pounds/euros/dollars this game makes every month there is no excuse for poor hardware, poor support staff or bad ISP choice and there is NO excuse for queues to get on to a realm that's a problem that could be solved by anyone who's got more then a weeks experience in a server farm.

Until Blizz sort out the spiral of poor patch management, even worse problem resolution and woefully ignorant( and from my own dealings with then arrogant) staff I suggest that you do not waste your money on this game.

Once again this is only from the experience of the Euro servers.

Please feel free to check out the official wow europe technical forums to verify any of the above, if you can't get to them it's because there hosted on the same servers as the realms and are probably down, again.

I know that the older US realms have been having problems too.
Several realms would lag or crash right during prime raiding hours.
I see a long list of US servers that are being taken down quite frequently.

I solved this by paying to transfer all of my 60s over to a server on new hardware that
I had been playing on since it opened up back in March. While that isn't a good solution
for everyone, it got me around the problem.

I don't have any of the trouble you have described. I play in Europe too.
The only real trouble I have had with the game was the performance at launch, and the issues that occured on my server when the AQ patch launched.

Besides that the game has always worked like a dream for me.

I think many of the problems are caused by the players computers. Bad maintenance, not updated drivers, stupid use of ui mods, ports locked in the firewall and router, poor connection between computer and router, ISP trouble and the list goes on.

Well, in my case I've worked with computers for more then 20 years, my hardware spec is 6 months old but much to the horror of my wife was top end parts.  Also I currently work for a ftse 100 company regulating network and internet traffic.

So in my case I can assure you that I am qualified to make the statement that the errors are at the server end

Even in the case's that you are correct and you will be I've seen some of the numties who try to play the game on p3's

They can not be blamed for the
        - lack of customer support / service
        - not removing the thousands of bot's that plague all euro servers
        - Inexplained failures of authentication servers
        - Massive queues to log on to a server, I mean how hard is it to monitor the number of characters on a server and stop allowing creatation of more when it's at a limit that all can play at once ?
        - In fact the only reason I have time to type this post is because I'm in a huge queue waiting to logon to a server that was apparently 'upgraded' in 1.12 patch.

With all of these factors, I stick to my original statement - Don't buy it - when my subscription runs down I'll be suspending it and playing something else until blizz fix these problems.  My £8 a month will not make them change there minds about putting some of there profit in to support but slowly as more people leave then join maybe they will.

Alas, Blizzard goes the way of SOE... be prepared for "Warcraft's New World Embellishments" to make it more 'Warcrafty' and 'Iconic'.
