What do you all think?

bukshotbukshot Member Posts: 277

I was just going to post and say.... What noone cares about EQII.  However, then I saw this forum!  What I wanted to ask everyone is, What do you think about the graphics?  Judging by the screenshots of course.  I think they are building it up to be something that it will not be!  Those graphics are too good for the actual gameplay.  I guess all we can do is wait and see.  What does everyone think?

It would be too risky if they were displaying false graphics.  Yes, those are what the graphics look like on the best, top of the line graphics cards, so if you don't have an amazing one they won't look exactly like that, but overall the graphics should and will look similar.  Graphics aren't something that they can easily fake.

and i think if you want them to look like that you better have one hell of a nice rig.

People say EQ2 graphics look cold, I have to agree with them. Look at Guild Wars, the screenshots are like artworks. Then look at EQ2, the screenshots are so plain and like plastic.

Well, in my opinion, the EQ2 graphics look more realistic than any other engine out there right now.  Every other game seems to be going down the more cartoony look, which isn't bad, but I just tend to lean towards the realistic feel.

Yeah those are real for sure. Also to note guild wars and lineage2 are also very nice. To me this only adds to the immersion factot which is very very good. Still however the number of quests, gameplay sytles, lore, and general fun of the game is what has me happy.

Yeah, even a game which has incredible graphics could fail if the gameplay is horrible.  Hopefully SOE did a good job with some of the more advanced gameplay, but I think they have from what I have read so far.

The graphics dont bother me much.

I would gladly play with old plain EQ graphic for the next 10 years, as long as I dont start playing with better graphics, you see, now that I play with EQ graphics, I cant play something with lesser graphics, I go nut, but I dont mind them on the other way, as long as you dont taste a new fruit, your longing for it is not bad.

The gameplay and the system is why I will try EQ2 first.  WoW look great, dont get me wrong, but...it lack the deph EQ always show, and even if I dont agree with SoE previous choices, I am a dreamer and hope they see the light on what players find the most fun!

SoE staff have proven to be LISTENING to their players throught the time.  Now, they have to figure which players to listen and which to *nod* nicely and not really and not apply their suggestions, and most likely do an hybrid with players that spam them to much like me. :)  I mean, I spam them so much that even if they dont listen to me I will feel they do have listened to me in many places! :)

Anything I suggest here was spammed on SoE months or years ago, so I suppose most of the stuff here was suggested to a company or another a LONG time before been posted here, most peoples like to spam their favorites first! :)  It is...been...human! :)

EQ2...EQ2....EQ2...my hype cant be higher honestly, this is kinda annoying because they can hardly have better then a stalemate with my hype! :)

But again, if you ask me if the Star Wars movies where goods, they all where rocking, even those u dislike the most, I am biased! image

I agree...even though WoW looks very good, I still think EQ2 wil be a more in-depth game with more gameplay and advanced options once you get past the beginning levels.  But, since EQ2 seems to be delayed more and more, I will probably try out WoW to pass the time before it.

    Yordo,

I hope your right.  There a heaps of us who have waited for the release of EQII and there is still a long wait ahead.  I hope that the game has more than the great graphics and there is depth to the game that I loved in EQ.  I have put up with the graphics of EQ for the gameplay and depth, but would love to have the same depth and immersion I get with EQ with the great graphics that EQII seems to promise.

Yes, we still have a long wait ahead image

However, most people agree that the later EQ2 expansions wrecked EQ, so when people say EQ2 will have less content than EQ, that makes absolutely no sense.  The very first EQ game was a huge success with tons of things to do and great gameplay.  If SOE can base EQ2 on that first EQ release, then the game will have a great launch.  But there is always a possibility of disaster....

What?  The actual game doesn't cost $100...it will cost around $50.  Then you will have to pay the subscription fee which I expect to be about $15 per month.

Since I loved the original EQ so much I definitely plan to give EQ2 a try and hope its great but I personally think it has the worst looking graphics of any of the big new mmorpgs coming out.  Lineage 2, WoW, Guild Wars, UXO all have much more impressive art.

Yes EQ2 has the most "realistic" engine with bump mapping and advanced shadow things but it has the worst art and lack of style of any fantasy game I have seen in a long time.  I actually like EQ1's graphics better then EQ2's.

Hopefully the game play will be as fun as the original and overcome the poor graphics.

    Well...

EQ cost like $50, add #30 every 3 months and the month fee, this is still way less then what i spend on others games when I dont play EQ...when I play EQ, I dont buy others games, I dont have the time to buy them.  Now every week it cost me $70 or so to buy a game that last 2 or 3 days... :)

It is all in the point of view, but I dont mind spending 12X 10 + 50 + 30 + 30 + 30 = $250 in a full year if I play it all the time, because it save me on all others games! :)

I am getting tired of playing the french in civilization and conquering the world over and over again!  image

I have no problem with subscription fees...they don't really bother me.  But I definitely could not do 2 different online games at once which both take a subscription.  I only have time to play one and I like to devote my whole attention to a single game.

I think that them waiting is a good idea. If they probably brought it out right now they would have all these bugs they would have to repair like Star Wars Galaxies had when that came out. I say that its a good thing that they are waiting and postponing the release date. I just hate playing a buggy game.image

When I quit EQ the first time I sold my chanter for $555, when I quit the second time I sold my second chanter for $1000.  I played for 3 years and spent maybe $750 total and I doubled that playing it.  Not a bad deal.
