Is the only way to search the forums is using the search at the top of the screen and using a word from the title of the topic? I want to check on topics i've posted and and I've created.

If you want to see topics of one particular person, in this case - you, you can easly search them by clicking on "User info" icon in all your posts and topics or follow this link - ""Tsayak profile.

Now you should see your profile. There is two searching options -
1. View all forum posts by Tsayak
2. View all forum topics by Tsayak

So you can search for what you want - topics made by person, in this case you, or posts.
