Changing the rules for the beta contests? Maybe?

I've heard some people on here who has bragged about winning more than one free beta giveaway.  They're either full of BS or they are telling the truth.

If they are telling the truth, I would assume that you Admins should have a "one win" policy.  When someone wins a beta giveaway, they can't win another one for a certain length of time.  That way you can give others a chance instead of giving 2 or three betas to the same person.

Like i said, they may be spewing BS when they're saying they won more than one beta, however, if it is true, you should change it a bit image

    yep,some ppl here said they won several betas in very short time,so they didnt even have time to test them all and some ppl won nothing..........like meimage

    like any "random" comp. you are allowd to enter them all and win them all if luck is on your side. Its a total random process which the admins have no control over. Unless they can manipulate the computer that is spewing out random names.

    There has to be a way.  I mean, if you see "ICEmama69" has won yet another beta there shoud be a manual way to overide that winner and choose another.  I wouldn't think it would be that difficult

    It is not that we can't do it...it is as simple as running cross reference on past winners in our database.  However I am not sure that it is what we desire. 

    Being there is typically 3000-5000 entires in a contest and only a 10-20 winners for a contest, allowing winners into a new contest does not shift the odds much...and the odds of them being drawn twice is very slim.

    Here is what I don't like about it (thinking like I was a member).  A contest for game A comes along, it looks cool so I enter - and win!  Next month MMORPG.COM announces a contest for game B, which is the game I have been waiting my entire life for...but I can't enter because I won the last one.

    I don't want people to feel they should not enter the current contest because their "dream contest" might be around the corner...

    When you win contests on other sites you are eligible to enter again.  That is just the way they work.

    Yes, I agree with you Admin...and I am not biased since I haven't won multiple contests, only 1.  It isn't fair if you can't win multiple times because some people log on every day to enter the contest, and therefore have a higher chance of winning.  It is fair to them because they have logged on every day to put in an entry to the contest, while some who don't could win by not going on as much?  I like the current system....

    I may be misunderstanding so please correct me if Im wrong.  Are you saying you can log on more than once and have a higher chance of winning?  I think im just misunderstanding ya

    Yes.  Read our contest rules.  You get bonus tickets the more DAYS that you login.  In other words, we only count one login per calander day, so logging in 20 times in one days is only counted as once.

    Each contest is slightly different, but we typically give a bonus ticket for every 5 days you login...up to a max of 5 bonus tickets.

    Each bonus ticket is another number "in the hat" so to speak...image

    We used to have a lot of members that were upset that more dedicated members were not winning and there was nothing in the sytem to reward their loyalties....so we came up with this system.  We don't use forum posts or ranks because we don't want people posting trash in the forums just to boost their odds.
