Toons in EQ.

Okay not that i mind but you can defintly tell that a guy made the female toons becuase i have been looking at screenshots and some of the Female toons are down right sexy. And i'm not sure if they do this becuase Sex Sells and there trying to give people an extra incentive to play or what there doing. What do you think

    I think the Devs just wanted to have some fun and of course, they made the female characters pretty good looking.

    they designed those women like that because sex sells....bottom line.

    I remember when Raph Koster's team gave female Mon Calamri big breasts, Lucas found out and was pretty pissed off about it.

    You dont give fish boobs, its just not natural.  Lucas forced Koster to make them flat chested...hell, Koster should quit the gaming business and sell cars but thats another thread image

    I'm convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt its not just art. I do art and multimedia everyday and I dont give all the females I create double D boobs

    Well i'm going to throw Society into it, Its Socities View that "Beautiful women" Have the hour glass figure. But bottom line it is becuase sex does sell and thats why they do it but they are very good looking.

    I think they did it because no one wants to play an ugly character, male or female...  Some male characters can get away with being ugly and battle scarred because it makes them seem more tough... Girls though... No one wants an ugly girl around...

    I played a Human Rogue in EQ and there were a couple things I could wear that totally showed cleavage.... OF COURSE a guy made the chick toons!!! LOL

    When I first saw some screen shots for EQ2... I just sat there and laughed.  Sure they look great but damn, what about us women??  They dont show anything on the male toons!!  image  LOL

    Well to be fair they do they show the abs and the big arms and stuff like that but we can't really show cleavage and if they gave you a hint of whats under the lion cloth people would make a huge fuss about it.

    Well then * wink* but any how i just think the reason why they don't do htat is becuase guys are more visualy stimualted then girls. or at least there more prone to think with there other head then women

    To you who obviously never followed SWG on the old original official forums.....

    It is Rich Vogel who handled relations between SONY and LucasArts. And since it is also obvious you've never seen any or all the SW movies.... you would know that no Female Mon Cal has ever been shown. (Just like no Female Bothan has ever been shown.). The SWG game DEV team actually had no idea how a Female Mon Cal should look, or would look. And since most female bi-peds aka humanoids do have breasts, that's how they designed them at first. When Rich Vogel checked with LucasArts, they were not sure either. They had to go all the way to the Flannel One himself. And he wasn't sure. He gave it some thought, and decided on the spot how bi-ped humanoid Female Mon Cals should look. Rich Vogel came back to SONY and told them the new definition for Female Mon Cal. All this information was originally posted in one of many DEV updates by Rich Vogel himself.

     LucasArts was never "pissed" off about it. LucasArts never "forced" Raph to change it. Get the story correct first. Now that you have it correct, post the correct version. image

     The same exact thing happend with Female Bothans, as well as the entire Bothan species - no one knew conclusivly how/what they were suppose to look like.

     

     SONY actually got the most flack from LucasArts over the cockpit of the X-Wing ships. It was later found out the mesaurements were not right, after a SW fan pointed it out first.

     Back to the main topic of this thread:

     

     1. Sex sells. In America, and the rest of the world. It is true the majority of MMORPG players are males. Do females like MMORPGs? Do they play MMORPGs? Why are the male dominated marketing departments refusing to even try marketing MMORPGs to females?

     The circle has to begin somewhere. "No females play MMORPGs so why market to them". "But if we don't market to female players, we will never get them to play" and so on...... 

     2. Women have always been sexually repressed (even in America). Thus sex has always been marketed and targeted towards males more.

     3. I agree, and am for, finding out what stimulating material sells to women. I also work in marketing and enjoy going to movie screenings with women, asking them what they would do different if they were the ones filming the sexy scenes. I get some intresting answers.

     4. SWG right now is the only game with the most customization available for character creation. There are no templates. Players are not forced to choose from picking A-cup, C-cup, or D-cup. Players decide precisely how their character will look using slider bars that change the shape of a character down to the millimeter. You can be super anerexic, or come close to making Carmen Electra jelous. And everything in between. Yep, there is clevage in SWG. And there are certain coats and shirts that will *ahem* make what Janet Jackson showed be equivilant to being G-rated. (Then again if you live in any country other than America, what Janet did show was G-rated LOL!)

     Female players can do the same with male characters if they choose. They can even dress their male characters in provacative clothing, showing chest, or going topless.

    I must be a freak, then. I get a kick out of playing less-than-attractive female characters, playing it off as if they don't know that they are unattractive, or that they are attractive to males of the same race. I loved my girly ogre warrior. My only regret was that plate mail armor isn't very revealing. And male ogres were obliging enough to flirt with her everywhere she went. 

    I also like attractive characters. When you are a female human or dark elf SK... It's all about the look. ;)

    EDIT: Rather than posting again, I thought I would add onto this one.

    It might be true that men are more visually stimulated than women,  that doesn't mean that women aren't visually stimulated. We're definitely checking you guys out and taking notes. ;)  I really DO wish they would spend some time making male models a little more attractive. I'd like broader shoulders on a guy, and better thighs. (MMM... I do love good shoulders!) And I certainly wouldn't be offended by well-endowed male models. I might think it was funny, if it went too far, but offended? Nah.

    I think variety is key-- some pretty, some plain, and some downright scary.

    This games sexual connotations are mild compared to Lineage 2 and im not put off by their graphics either.

    As for there not being many women playing mmorpgs I think your wrong, if you read some of the latest studies we are playing more and more of these types of games.  Obviously there are not as many of us as there are men playing but enough where our tastes should be taken into account as well.
