OK, imagine a game with the following:

    1. Largest game world ever seen
    2. Epic, flying mounts
    3. Massively Multiplayer, with epic ongoing wars
    4. Excellent graphics
    5. Tons of content
    6. Functional, non-buggy game system
    7. Thrillingly animated combat
    8. Player run economies and such
    9. The promise of your own name and title made immortalised if you paid X hundred bucks (semi-sarcastic)

Now, take out pretty much all those things above. What you're left with, is Dark & Light. Oh, then imagine a bunch of whiney, arrogant forum mods and devs, and then imagine paying over the nose for it all.

    Don't walk away...RUN!

There is nothing attractive about this game except it's size. But even that has it's drawbacks because this world is one big empty space. Even logging on to the damn game is a chore. There are some people that haven't been able to log on at all!

Everything is bad. Run away! Stay away! It's one big headache...

Run fast, run hard, don't look back...

Not only have they never delivered on one single promise in the features, they continue to ignore the people who still choose to play.

Funny - I could imagine the developers saying exactly the same thing.

Want a pioneer account to try it?  I have no desire to even attempt it at all.  It gives me agida.

I couldn't/wouldn't ask for it back.  To lay out that much money and not be able to enjoy the game at all is very dissapointing.  I've waster money on games before, but those were on the cheap shelf.  This was the first time I beleived the hype of a game and laid out cash before I could form my own opinion about it.

I couldn't get into SoG, or rather I couldn't sstand the bugginess of it so I figured I would wait for release.  By the time it released it was too late.  They wouldn't offer me a refund.

Such a shame. This game had alot of hype at first, and sounded like it may break the current mmo mold. I guess breaking the mold sometimes mean putting out a game no one wants to play. These companies are investing hundreds of thousands of man hours on design, dev, marketing. And thats not cheap. But to put out something like this after all that... I feel sorry for the managers of these projects. Talk about a black mark on the ol resume.

Ya thaar, i was hoping for the best of this one, but, once a compnay blames their problems on the fans,(very unprofessional) i would never play, if they would acknoledge their problems and work twords resolution then it would be more respectable and would try it in a year or so. Trust me im the very last person to abandon a game due to forums, but once i saw the moderaters blame fans for problems,

While I've kinda been following the downfall that is this game, I find it hard to believe that the development team blamed the fans at any point in time.

I've seen a lot of people claim this but no one actually post proof. Also, moderators on a forum aren't usually part of the development team, or even employed by the developer. Generally they are just trusted people or friends of those who do work for the team. So just because mods on a forum blame fans for the downfall that is this game, doesn't mean the development team, or farlan themselves for that matter, blamed the fans.

Anyways, if someone has any proof one way or another that would be great.

EDIT - On a side note, I'm downloading their little "demo" now to see how it actually runs. I also find it hard to believe that this truely is the worst MMO out right now. Take the following as an example of truely horrible MMO's:

    The Realm
    Terra World
    Kingdom of Drakkar
    Irth Online
    El Kardian
    Oz World
    Undercover 2: Merc Wars
    Blademistress
    Clan Lord
    The Sims Online

I have played every single MMO available on the market right now, including all those listed above. And I have a VERY HARD time believing that this truely is worse than those listed above.

Now you be sure to take that singleplayer tech demo as proof that the actual online game is playable. You know what, if you find it so hard to believe, why don't you take the time to actually read the threads here that go all the way back to the beginning. I "FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE" that you're not a troll for Farlan and co., so why don't you prove your not?

I've been regged here for a while (as you can see my registration date), I follow all MMO's but rarely speak on these forums, in fact this is my first time on mmorpg forums. Usually I just use the developer forums for whatever game I'm interested in. I'm merely posting here because it's full of people who seem to be acting so harshly and yet I haven't seen any proof to any of these claims.

I mean, if you can provide this proof where the developer (Farlan or whomever) committed such acts, then that's fine, I'll lay off, but I'm merely speaking out because of all the ignorance that flies around this forum with this "he said she said" bullshit.

Mods for forums aren't hired or employed by the developer so what they say can't be held against the developer. They don't get paid. They moderate forums in their spare time, it's just how it is. So I can see a couple of them flying off the handle with how bad this game is going, but simply because they bark out against the fans or customers, doesn't mean Farlan has...

I think it's just a very touchy situation all around. And also, I've hoped this has taught everyone not to purchase things right off the bat. One would've thought, this being the year 2006 and all, that folks would've learned that by now, ESPECIALLY in the MMO world.

Now now now, don't go being foolish and berating people for trying a game. If no one tried it who would tell everyone else if it is good/bad?

As for your proof! I couldn't tell you where the article is posted but I have seen it and the quote from the reporter goes something like this "Under the double pressure of the DnL community and monitary reasons, NpCube/Farlan released the game prematurely." They also went on to say that the game had 70% of the promised content and was very playable I believe. I would say that it had no more than 20% of the promised content and was barely playable. But that is just my opinion. I would inquire Indiramourning or Cholayna for a link to the ilconcieved article if you want proof. Those two are up on all the info involving DnL.

As for those other games you mentioned, most of them didn't lie about their content the way Farlan did. Also, there was alot of advertisement involved with DnL making huge promises that drew in a large following. And lastly, these people have been working on this game for 5+ years. I'm sure there are many other points I could make but I'm sure you've heard them all before. Have a good one!

Sorry, I missed a couple things. The people that moderate/GM DnL are a company called "Alchemic Dream" or AD for short so I believe they do get paid by Farlan as an outsource. Whatever information they get is direct from the dev team or Farlan.

The article you speak of is translated from french and if you looked on a tool resource such as Google and used keywords you might be able to find it.

Lastely, it wasn't the dev team that made that statement. It was the head of Farlan or Npcube that stated that. And it was a reporter from an MMO mag or such that wrote the article. I'm going from memory here so my facts may not be perfect. Hope I've been helpful....

They have done so many times in too many articles and answers to mention. However, if you have in fact been "following" as you state you have , you would have seen the article here, released by mmorpg.com and other sites for that matter which show the interview in its entirety where in fact,,,,, it WAS stated that it "was the pressure from the fans"/
Also, may I remind you, that as a player in DNL, it was also stated many many times over by the devs and AD themselves that yes, it was due to the overwhelming pressure by the fans that is was released "too early".
Mayhaps your reading comprehension needs improvement or your words when you write as so far they have proved false themselves. If you have been following, as you so clearly state, you would not have started that as your first comment.

of people claim this but no one actually post proof. Also, moderators on a forum aren't usually part of the development team, or even employed by the developer.
As you state again, you have been following this game. Farlan MADE a moderator team part of the "development" insofar as not only were they responsible for moderation of a forum but aslo as GMs of a game.....thus responsible for game events, problems , etc etc . Farlan themselves, with ADs cooperation , made AD the "voice of DNL". The downfall of the forum community, the bs "events". the bs GM shaningans (which can all be seen right here in this forum , with "proof" as you say), you would have been able to already know if! in fact , you were really "following the downfall" and 'wish proof" of "he said, she said". Its all in the DNL forums, various websites given not only by this forum but DNL forum itself as to your "proof" of the bs as well as this forum also. All ya gotta do is read some threads, do a little homework before you show the world how ignorant you are.

Generally they are just trusted people or friends of those who do work for the team. So just because mods on a forum blame fans for the downfall that is this game, doesn't mean the development team, or farlan themselves for that matter, blamed the fans.
Again , it wasnt the mods only, it was the Farlan gang themselves, AD just used it as a handy scapegoat for their own incompetent bs. Do your homework. This isnt a bs forum at all, This isnt DNL forums, this isnt some bs dev forum..this is mmorpg.com. You dont like the truth? You will like DNL then .

Anyways, if someone has any proof one way or another that would be great.

Do your own homework. Its all there, All over the place. Demanding bs when your own ignorance only shines brighter than the request is the epitome.

EDIT - On a side note, I'm downloading their little "demo" now to see how it actually runs. I also find it hard to believe that this truely is the worst MMO out right now. Take the following as an example of truely horrible MMO's:

And none claim what Farlan does and still continues to do. As you also notice, their little propaganda bs marketing also states that this is NOT the game, but a :true: representation of the game. Sure! anyone can make a cool video of stuff that really doesnt work in the real world. If you cant see through the differences, you are TRULY an ignorant mmo player.

    The Realm
    Terra World
    Kingdom of Drakkar
    Irth Online
    El Kardian
    Oz World
    Undercover 2: Merc Wars
    Blademistress
    Clan Lord
    The Sims Online

oh yay! and lets compare the bs hype with that list! BWAHHHAHAHAHAHA You have GOT to be kidding me!!! BWHAHAHAHAAAAAA, Get a life! get a grip! BECOME A TRUE MMORPG PLAYER!!! It REALLY will open your world. ! BWHAHAHAHAHAA

I have played every single MMO available on the market right now, including all those listed above. And I have a VERY HARD time believing that this truely is worse than those listed above.

Then guess what? You obviously ARE the target consumer!!! And honestly, I find it extremely HARD to believe your last statement, as well as your first for that matter, but it also proves, you dont know much about mmo;s now do you?

People like this kill me man. Ignorance, not in a bad sense, simply that they are "unlearned"...who do not find the time to "learn" themselves, condemn others for it then claim grandiose experience with the same subject..wtf???? BWAHAHHAHAAAAA

So yeah, I tried this when it came out.

The graphics were 'okay' - however the character creation choices left a lot to be desired and the models aren't very crisp. Enter the world. The very first quest NPC gave confusing/ambiguous instructions, so I'm like ok, I'll go try to kill something and figure out the quest later. Wander over to some creature. Begin fight. Wait. Wait. (A bit of time passes during which I resemble an old man beating on this creature with his cane.). Ok cool, I got some xp and some loot that I ....can't do anything with. Or sell apparently. Wander around for 10 minutes, oh! I found another mob. This one pwned me. Tried leaving town a different way, found some things that I could kill. Tried to figure out how to raise stats. Or see stats. Or skills. The interface was very non-user friendly and there wasn't any sort of (functional) in game tutorial. Forums were unhelpful. Wandered around killing stuff till I gained a few levels, then talked to all the NPCs in town trying to find something to do. Failure. Boredom. Cancellation of subscription.

    Gaming? That's not gaming!
That's just people sat 'round in costumes drinking...

And yet you arenot accepting the word, or multiple reports of those who have had experience with the game and have "learned for themselves". Instead you attempt to nitpick one insane and obscure point in an effort to discredit the games detractors. Given how readily apparent it is to even the most casual observer that the game is a steaming pile of turd, developed and marketed by retarded chimps, I can only assume that you are one of the semi professional farlan marketing shills that keep sneaking in here.
