Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

STOP the BUTCHERING of IP's.

These developers are so stuck in their ways, that they cannot see that they are destroying all chances of making some great games with these IP's.

Just about every developer. Shoots out the same answer. So why did you go class/level based and not something new.?

"Well anything else would be hard to balance so the class/level based would be best. This format also suites the game best plus you get to be some cool classes and get cool high skills in the high levels!" quote from every developer who had their manhood taken away from them.

I have not paid for an MMO for almost a year now. Unfortunately not enough people understand that continuing to play these sorry excuses for games is not the way to get things to change.

Now they are taking IP's like LOTR, and AoC and starting the cycle all over. Granted AoC has one or 2 things cool about it. The fact that AoC still justify playing solo to level 20 and then after you do that the game begins is well ridiculous! and dont get me started on LOTR because that is looking a bit messy over there.

In AoC, they are doing that so when people finally do get to the game, it won't be filled with a million newbies crying out they don't know what to do, etc.  Plus you only have to do it ONCE, that's it.

Not everytime you make a new character, but once and that's it.

Personally i think this is a great idea. Btw you only have to do this for your first character and by the time your done you know what you're about. No constant noob questions in starter area's. They say will take 15-18 hours to complete, generally when i start a new game i solo for around that long to get to know my character before jumping into grouping.

Ohh i hear ya Ver. But the problem stems not just from the fact that you have to wait till you level 20 to actually "join" the game. This is a much deeper rooted problem.

One of the main ideaology of the Conan series is "Freedom!" You and only you control what you do when you do it and how you do it. It is what Conan himself eats, drinks and breaths. That is what made his advertures so awesome he never had to hold back unless he wanted to.

So first you start me off with having to choose a class and then a prestige class and then I am stuck, Unlike Conan I wont be able to practice being a thief sometimes or a warrior or what ever pops into my little head unless i start a whole new character.

On top of that you make so that a new player and a (boy i really hate this expression) "end game player" have really no reason to interact since our level difference seperates us so. Bring us together so we can play apart... every level based MMO Screams Oxymoron.

We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I am trying to create a concept for a M.M.O. where U chose a class then u will get a certian amount of skill from the get go. U will b able to pick a certian amount of skills ( depending on class chosen) that complement your class on top of that U will b able to chose a set of secondary ( agian amount depends on class) skill's

Now some classes will restrict certian skill's and others will have no limits to the type of skill U are able to chose the game will b level based meaning that when u go up in levels U will b able to get x amount of skills ( agian depending on what class U chose )  the skill's would b catorized in the manner of techinical, science, rouge, military, domestic, pilot, ETC.

along with leveling U will gain the ability to make a 100+classes with in one class (the amount of classes has not been determend as of yet Read the post http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/93864

by haveing a skill system liek this it will give players a fun and involved charter customization system enstead of the lv grind to obtain skill and powers ( yes there will b psionic and magic classes along with inherent races that will add to the skill's of choses classes) U will get stronger with leveling and gain new powers and skills yet the concept is that a lv 1 PC will b just as powerfull as a lv 100+ every one is on a even playing ground yet seperated by thier choice of skill's/powers

your demon from the depth's of hell

I agree 100%. Great, innovative idea. Weeds out the "omg please take my hand...I never use my brain!" crybabies.
