I guess after entering that VIP code we just sit back and wait again. I would assume Turbine will e-mail everyone with a download link etc. once they go over our applications.
Originally posted by shermi Ok let me try to follow this . 1. enter contest 2. get picked have 24 hours to reply. 3. wait for everbody else to reply. 4. get vip code enter it at your beta sign up. 5. wait anyware from today to sometime next year to be invited into beta. Dam
Which proves the old addage:
"You can please some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot please all of the people all of the time. And then there's some people you can't ever please."
Just got my VIP code too! Yay!!! Here's hoping it's next weekend that I'm let into Beta (This weekend the mother in law is visiting, Doh!)
^^ Already been stated its not against NDA....we were given VIP codes....not an invite to beta phase....once people have been officially invited into a beta phase then it would be against NDA to say your in...sorry to break it to ya...

Trust me this is not against the nda when testing a game it is not against it to talk about you getting in posting pics, video and talking about game mechanics is. None of us are in so just saying you got in is in no way a ban offence with turbine.

NDA really starts when you actually get accepted to beta, and have agreed to the NDA itself. Not that it matters, one way or another. Not much more will be discussed about it (at least by me), as there isn't that much to say about it.
Hopefully, we actually get into the beta sometime soon...
Digging around thru the 'beta has started' thread over on the official forums, I found the following:
Ramen, LOTRO Community team:
"Beta Invites will go out in batches, periodically, throughout Beta. People with VIP keys will indeed get in, but in what wave this happens will vary. And yes, the email will go to the email you use in your profile here on the forums. If you have a VIP code, you should enter it into your Beta Application.
And to another frequently asked question, there is no point when you should stop expecting an invite if you haven't gotten it yet (aside from launch of course); invite waves will occurr throughout the course of the Beta Program's duration."
So the wait begins for our time. How long it will be, hard to say. I am guessing, it will be sooner rather than later, however how soon, we can only guess. As far as codes go, if you had problems with yours, I did find the following:
Saffron, LOTRO Community Team:
"Okay, I've narrowed down the problem.
If you are a confirmed VIP code winner with MMORPG.com you are all set. I've got your names.
No need to send me your codes anymore. Thanks everyone who has sent me an email. It helped me narrow down the issue."
And clarification:
"Guys, when your phase of invitations go out I will be sending the emails to either a) the email that you have supplied us (where I can match it) or b) the email that you supplied to MMORPG.com.
I may be kicking myself in the pants later, but if you are uncertain about which email to MMORPG.com you provided please send me an email (lotro@turbine.com) with "SAFFRON - MMORPG.com" in the subject line.
Please include:
forum username
forum Id (if you know it)
Email address you want the email to go to
Email address you think you supplied
Real name
Due to the sheer amount of emails I have a feeling I will get I won't be answering you. However I will go through all of them and check my records for you on Monday."
So basically, if you have problems with your code, it shouldn't matter as Saffron has flagged accounts manually (that match an existing LOTRO account) or she's added you to a list with your MMORPG.com related email (if she couldn't find a match in their forum database).
Hope that helps, other than giving us a better idea of 'when' other than, sometime after now and before launch.
Yeah but if I read this correctly. It just really says we entered a big bin full of tickets - there is no real mention that we are "Preferred". Just states that we will get in eventually as they may need new testers....
Lets say they need 500 tester - they will lets say chose 400-450 from the regular Beta applications and maybe 50 from us or other contests... This only means we have a higher chance to be picked not that we really are the preffered ones.
From what I have read on the main lotro forums, us winners have been flagged for beta already, but we just will be getting in at a certain time that no one has told us yet. But we will def be getting in.
Just take a deep breath and rest assured that they will be taking good care of you. There are several hundred winners at this point and it will take a short time to get all of you into the game. You will definitely not just be put in with the rest of us as Patience has already mentioned. Go here for the best information I can provide.
I'd also like to mention that there are some of us who have been waiting 7 years for the start of beta. So try to be just a little more patient. Glad you guys made it.

Yeah I can see what you mean, although I'm not sure how this will end up working. It makes me wonder why the Contest was for Beta Accounts, but VIP keys were given out. I'm not sure if the VIP keys guarantee anything.
Actually the vip codes gaurantee you a spot. I would say that if they needed 500 people over half of them would come from vip code holders and the rest from those who don't. If they only took 50 from the vip and the rest from those who don't have a vip haveing a vip code wouldn't meen anything.

Lets see when they start letting ppl actually in.

All your Beta questions answered here (Yes, even yours)
And don't forge to read Odinseye's Mini Guide to Better Beta Testing while you're there.I'd also like to mention that there are some of us who have been waiting 7 years for the start of beta. So try to be just a little more patient. Glad you guys made it.
For those of you who don't want to click on a link i though i'd post it directly
Q. I have a VIP code. Where is my invitation?
A. If you are a confirmed VIP code winner with MMORPG.com you are all set. I've got your names. Per our lovely Saffron here http://lotro.turbine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8368 post #27
Q. So if you won a "beta key" you just won your actual beta key in the last week of Beta perhaps?
A. Of course not! That wouldn't be much of a prize now, would it? From the always amazing Patience here:
http://lotro.turbine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8377 Post #21
No one is stating exactly when you will get in, but there is preferential treatment being given.
