Ok cmon we need a few players to get into the game and form a static party. This game is a whole heck of a lot more fun if you have a static to play with. This loses the games real blackmark wich is the timesink of looking for groups to party.

This game is very time consuming, but it is alot of fun.You can do missions wich are based around the story of the game. You do rank missions to gain fame and gain rewards by doing so.Levelling is fun because the fights are strategic and take teamwork. It has crafting/quests you name it most likely has it.There is however no skillpoint alloting ,if your used to that type of game setup.

There are things to learn like setting up macros and deciding what job you would like to be,but i am sure i could help any new player with all of that decision making.

This game even has a language translator.Tell me WOW has that?heh.

So if your thinking about it,go ahead give it a shot ,join me in a static party.I don't hold anything against any player, even extreme dummies or noobs no probs ,i'll try to teach anyone how to enjoy the game by offering as much info as i can, because any new game can be overwhelming at first.

Hey Wizardry I just recently quit FFXi after 2 months play simply because i could not find groups. I loved the game for the most part, the FF feel and the classes were awesome. What time zone are you in? What hours would this static group play? What server? My characters were on Bahamut but i dont mind starting over on a new world. Someone would need to provide a worldpass cause I doubt we could all roll onto the same server.

I would love to be a part of a dedicated group. Im still a FFXI noob but Im a fast learner.

great,i have been looking alot for WP and they are extremely rare, always expired.Yes i can get us WP for garuda.I was hoping to get into a new server, but garuda is the most convenient, and it is a good server.

I am in EST.I guess playing from 6-12 pm anywhere in there that works.

I could provide a WP for Bahamut but I found that world to be rather barren in the noobie/grouping areas. Im not sure about the state of the economy as Ive not played on other worlds.  I am also EST so that works out well and the 6-12pm works for me although there may be some nights that I might not be able to be on until around 9pm but on those nights i could stay on later. Were you planing on using any type of teamspeak? I would prefer not to use voice chat because I have small children that are easily awoken. I could always listen using teamspeak but my replies would need be typed.

If/when this comes together and you feel we have enough people Ill reopen my account.

Hi Voodude and Wiz.  I am also in EST and I am in the same situation as you Voodude, I have a baby nearby the PC and he wakes up very easily, so Voice comm would only be good for me before his bedtime.  Most of my playtime is obviously after he's asleep.

It's exciting to see more people interested in this group.  Looks like I might be able to play this great mmo again afterall.

I'm not a noobie >.> But I've been meaning to start a new Melee job. If you guys are serverless I can provide a worldpass to Diabolos. ^.^

I couldn't get past the controls. The control system is completely foreign to a person used to a Western styled MMO and don't even make sense. The controls aren't even the most efficient way of using the keyboard and doesn't allow you to map them as such either.

The game may be fun, but I didn't have the patience to learn yet another control system that no other game I will ever play will use. The game isn't good enough in it's reviews to force me to put forth more effort into it than any other game, rather than playing a game I already enjoy and already know. I've played over 11 MMO's and each one was easy to get into, since I could use practically the same control system. The control system is very important to me and must not deviate from what is normal for me. There are too many good MMO's out there for me to have to settle on a bad control system.

FFXI is still my favorite MMORPG of all time.

Have Square-Enix initiate another "Return Home to Vana'diel" Campaign.  Then I'll consider coming back, otherwise I'm not spending the time to level another character to 40 again, only to have it destroyed 3 months later when I quit because they can't seem to keep info on characters indefinitely.

    The horror... the horror...

Do you mean the Number Pad or WASD controlls? Because FFXI you can do both...

Suave, How long ago did you quit, Characters on FFXI last 1 Year after cancelation.

A very nice member on this forum showed me how to bring up the WASD controls, but even then, I needed to use the mouse to keep the camera straight and I'm not just talking about movement controls either. All of the controls were funky. This game is definitely for the asian gamers, and they must know what the hell to do and must be used to it. I have no grudge against asian games either, they just are a different breed of MMO compaired to Western styled and I prefer the Western styled MMO's myself.

The game was hard to get into and even harder for someone tired of learning new MMO's and just wanted a control system similar instead of having to learn a completely foreign and new system. Losing me as a customer won't make or break FFXI and I will never tell people to stay away from any game out on the market now, because of the way I feel about it. I'm sure FFXI is a great game and it looks good on paper, but after trying it for a few days, it aggravated more than it was fun. Oh well.

nthnaoun, I don't understand what you mean about "Keeping the Camera straight". In the Config you can set the Camera to "Chase Cam" (Meaning it says behind you) If you problem was the mouse moving to side of screen and makingyou spin, You can turn off that mouse movment effect. LIke what do you mean that made the controlls so hard? Maybe i've been playing too long and have completely mastered the keyboard, but It seems so simple... so many shortcuts (Don't even use most of them...)

Maybe I'm just special... But I use the Number pad, and can controll my movment 100% go through all the menus with 1 hand... Leaving the other for macors... Or picking up my sprite...

Sorry to hear the controls are that cumbersome.I find them to be easy for myself, once you get used to them.

I use the keypad because  it also has the AUTO-run right there on number7.After leaving the game for so long,i logged into my account just to keep it alive, because after 12 mnths they delete it'and found moving a little weird .It just took me a few minutes to get used to it again.

all you do is use keypad then hit the edges of the screen with your mouse.I know its normal to wanna click mouse buttons to aim your direction but ,it really is easy to just hit the edge of screen.mouse just moves camera while the keyboard moves your direction.Auto-run is so unreal handy because, you can type while moving.

I also realize there is alot of things that are not normal to learn, but there are things like the macro system, wich really make things easier. You just need someone to teach you or help you,as to wich im very sure i can do this.

I think doing that is a lot more tiresome, having to cycle from Keyboard to mouse. I place My Pointer finger on 4, Middle on 8, and Index on 6. Then use my thumb to toggle (0) & adjust the camera on the arrow keys. And I can move my pointer finger down to the Up arrow if need be.

Everything is over there on the right, + to toggle sorting options in menus, - to open the menu, / to move between walk/run, * is rest, Enter to accept commands. It just feels easier.

Yes, I really don't like their policy on this.  I don't even mind losing my character data as much as not being able to use my original CD key to play.  I had to buy the game again in order to play it, and that is just silly.  But I went and did it like a fool.  I hope it'll be worth it this time.  I have lots of fond memories of FFXI when I played a long time ago.
