Stategy or role playing?

Would this be more of a strategy based game or a role playing, just had this thought today in school...

You have the normal everyday mmorpg concepts, a char lvling going on quests and such killing monsters, but you can become a king of a city or something? and you could recruit characters or non player characters to be your guards or warriors. I don't know how that would work out or anything, but was just wondering what you would all consider that.

And are there any games comming out soon or already out that are like this? I havent seen much but I dont search games my whole life so im not that reliable

    Hiya!

     

    It would definitely be a RPG with a strategy dimension, but basically a RPG, since you are the King and others players join in.

     

    If I recall well, Dark & Light is pretty much working hard on those topic, if they would not have also pick a strong PvP orientation, I would gladly have check it out more.

    ShadowBane does this already.

    You can own your own city, you can build guard towers that have actual NPC guards that you control, etc...

    This would be a very fun part of ShadowBane, if I didn't dislike it so much...

    The game would be both. If you play as a warrior then it would be role playing, and when you become the king it would be strategy.

    It would be kind of like Savage without the first person shooting.

    Ya, would turn the tables on how you play that game rather than just PvPin or lvling up your char the whole time, youd have some strategy to have to put into it (now i know theres a lot of strategy you need in an mmorpg) BUT having something like this would give more thinking about various things! image
