Ouch.......I guess the big companies who put out crap have just found out that if they cant bring out a good mmorpg then dont bother trying. Now hopefully the good companies like Funcom, NCsoft and Blizzard can get on with their work creating good games.

Only difference is that according to that article, Monolith is still in full swing making the game, so development has NOT been cancelled.

What has happened is they lost their publisher.

The publisher backed out (Ubisoft). It said the game is still being developed.

Not a big loss in my opinion. Was not interested in that game anyways. . . But, yeah just hopefully this developers know that you cant release just anything

All  the mighty mmog seer Dekron, for it was I that predicfted this event many moons ago.  Finally we see the mmog era of crap coming to an end.  This will make less work for mmorpg.com because they will not have to constantly update their game list, for it will be short and sweet compromising of only quality games!

I think a lot of people could tell MO was gonna turn out crap if it was released and if it isnt i think it will be a relief for a lot of people.

Personally i would not mind if this game went down the crapper.  In order to have a the matrix you would need at least 100 NPC's per 1 actual player.  It won't be good because instead of some people having powers everyone does.

Matrix Online was supposed to further the official storyline.  It's what takes place after the machines and humans form a truce.  Now they have the Morvigianon (or whatever his name is) and his minions to deal with.  And if you remember from the movie and Enter the Matrix, they consist of vampires, wherewolves, wraiths, etc.  I think it could be a great game depending on what they do with it.  There are limitless possibilities.

Developers and Publishers shift feet all the time. There are plenty of games that lose their developers, and vice versa. Think about Neverwinter Nights and its shift from Interplay to Atari, and so on. This is old hat.

Main problem with matrix....it wouldnt have Street Fighter style fighting, instead it'd have those gay special move type buttons like DAoC. Hit button, do fast fury fist or what not.

Its the matrix, needs to be SF style fighting. Otherwise boring, and pointless.
