Virgin Ranger

Heyo. I used to play DAoC a few years ago but never got very far in it, partially because I was guildless and friendless in the game so I didn't really know what to do. I started back up the other day and made a Ranger, and I really like all of the improvements they have made in the game. I was wondering, if there are particular quests that I should be sure not to miss for reasons of xp/rewards ect. I do all of the bravery quests in the starter town for the armor, but that's about the only good quest I know of.

Doing the little turd starter quests takes forever and they don't really give off many rewards. In AC2 and WoW I knew the perfect way to go every time but in DAoC I'm pretty lost. Any help would be super! If you would also like to reccomend a sweet guild, I play on Lancelot

This advice assumes you at least have Catacombs.

Do the research to figure out how to get aurulite, and where to spend it.  Try googleing  "aurulite DAoC".   You can get really nice lowbie gear this way pretty quickly.  I agree that the newbie quests in your starter town aren't all that great (at least if they haven't changed since I played).  I also found running task dungeons to be fantastically boring, but a lot of players level that way.

Once you have a full set of Aurulite gear that's at least yellow, you might want to try a battleground to get some limited PvP experience.  It's not a whole lot like "big boy" PvP (at 50), but I did find it to be a lot of fun.  It's also a good way to learn some of the basics about what abilities work well in PvP.

The quests in the Catacombs zones are much more the typical linear well structured quests you might have been expecting.  If you do entire chains they give decent gear and nice XP.

A further, very quick, way to get to 20 is to head to the Shrouded Isles and do "kill tasks."  Talk to guards there and "/whisper task"   They will give you a target and tell you one direcetion in which they can be found.  You don't have to go in the direction they tell you.  If you know where to find the target closer kill one there instead.   Then go back and talk to the gaurd for massive XP and some coin.  Talk to him again for another task, repeat until you've done as many as you can for that level.  The kill tasks are designed so that you get most of a level by killing
a number of targets equal to your level [or your level -1, can't remembr].  For example killing 8 [or 7] targets at
level 8 gives you most of a level an a nice hunk of coin.

The kill tasks on the mainland are usually more trouble than they are worth.  Players that have only done them there don't realize how usefull they can be.  On the mainland, it takes forever to find a guard that will give you a kill task because they are so spaced out (compared to the Shrouded Isles).  They also tend to send you off to kill something on the other side of the continent.  In the Shrouded Isles there are a dozen or so guards pretty close together, so it's not hard to find one that will give you tasks.  In addition the target they send you after is often only a few steps away.

I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.

I would strongly suggest you take a look at this site and browse the Quest section. There isn't really a set way to do it. Personally I dont like that catacombs task dungeon system it takes away from the full world to explore out there. Also look around for assorted "hunting guides". There is still a ton of information out there for this game.

As far as friendless and guildless goes, unless you make some, you will get bored to tears pretty early on and you will not really ever be "in" with the RvR action, just like in L2, you could solo and lonewolf but why? It goes against the point of the game which is Guild vs Guild for the control of castles. AC2 and WoW are hollow pointless grind games.

Inside Tir Na Nog in the capital building (with the name register and vault NPC's) There is an NPC who will port you to Hybrazl. I don't know the NPC's name offhand, sorry. I just know its in the main building in the city.
