Your choices besides that are Anarchy Online (which is only "scifi" by virtue of having nanites instead of magic and guns instead of bows, and is otherwise much like DAOC), SWG (which I haven't played since they changed it, but I gather is really not as good as it once was), or a host of little tiny games like Vendetta Online (fun - Wing Commander style 'flight sim' type ship controls), Face of Mankind, and a few others with less than 10k total players that I'm not remembering off the top of my head - little indie ventures.
I'll give an honorable mention for Earth and Beyond, arguably the best space-style scifi game, mismanaged into the ground and then cancelled when it still had a profitable subscriber base by noteworthy screwups at EA.
Auto Assault Neocron Anarchy Online Eve SWG Planetside
I don't really like Anrachy Online it just seems like same old same old with sci-fi covering, tank and spank etc.
Eve is the best made of the games, but is also kinda boring.
Auto Assault has some nice stuff; physics, fun combat, desrtuctible environment. But its also just the same old class system and gets kinda boring like WoW.
Neocron is fun and different with a nice skill system. But its buggiest and clunkiest of them. Its the only Cyberpunk themed MMO. Although HackNet is a little repetitive.
SWG is really science fantasy and after the NGE ...
Planetside is different since its a real FPS, I don't like to compare it to RPGs not even an FPS/RPG like Neocron.
Of these four I am playing Neocron. Its not better than Eve, but its funner for me.
I guess we could throw CoX in as well. And Ryzom is technically sci-fi. But really those are more like fantasy to me.

let me define fantasy moo´s for you... ELVES AND TROLLS... SMAASH SLLOOPPP WAAWAWAWAWAW etc.. boring tolkien stuff that has no content and never will have if they dont stop all the greenskins and "pointy eared freaks" in the oven... and get rid of the psychedelic shock I get from playing wow or whatever fantasy mmo when old men in odd hats are around.. “a psychedelic drug is one which, without causing physical addiction, craving, major physiological disturbances, delirium, disorientation, or amnesia, more or less reliably produces thought, mood, and perceptual changes otherwise rarely experienced except in dreams, contemplative and religious exaltation, flashes of vivid involuntary memory and acute psychoses”. dont play the drug ^^

Everyone has their own definition but Star Wars is very much a fantasy tale in a sci fi setting.
The young farmer boy meets an old wizard how each him magic and how to fight. He then sets out to resuce the princess from the Evil king and his evil dark sorcerer. Sound like like any avg fantasy tale doesn't it?
Now just replace wizard with jedi, magic with the force, king with emperor and dark sorcerer with sith and you have star wars.
"Memories are meant to fade. They're designed that way for a reason."

no starwars is the rebels (allies) struggle against the empire (nazi-germany) thats where lukas got his inspiration.. just look at the imperial officers clothes and the racism that is in the empire.. and the blitz warfare that is portrayed in the death star ^^

Actually it would be more of robinhood fighting agianst King john(?) or one of the other many small poorly armed fantasy groups trying to topple the evil king/whatever. And the death star does not represent blitz warfare in any way shape or form. It was a Terror Weapon more online with the A/H Bomb. the Goal of blitz warfare is to strike quickly rush the enemy and prevent them from being able to ever form a proper defensive line. Death star doesn't really do that well as its slow and it doesn't leave anything left behind to capture but a new asteroid field.
And like Tolken, Lucas has been accused of taking ispiration from the World Wars. Both to the best of my knowledge still say they didn't. And I have read/heard interviews with both of them on how they wanted to create new Epic stories that in many ways modern culture has lost.

Tolkien may not have, but Lucas clearly did. Why else would the Empire's soldiers be "stormtroopers"?
Of course that's undoubtedly not the only inspiration, but it did play a part. I've heard people claim that it follows the patterns of mythological heroic epics too.

I understand where you are coming from but it has wizards in cloaks (jedi) using magic (the force) and sword fights, its fantasy. And miticholorines don't make it sci-fi! As far as plot elements those are universal. A story is a story.

yes NGE sucks.
Are there any games besides Neocron that actually have drugs in them and cause bad effects when the drugs where off (blurry vision/stumbling/death)?

While the term stormtrooper has been made popular from WWI (yes WWI not II) german units, the idea behind the the storm troopers goes back to the greek hoplites and other Historic Elite units. Storm troops where troops that stormed enemy positions and goes at least as far back to the Forlorn Hope units if not longer.

Well there's Seed...but...that's a work in progress. >_>
And to throw in the loop you have Matrix Online and Face of Mankind.
The only sci-fi themed game I'm currently keeping an eye on is the upcoming Fallen Earth.

There is Tabula Rasa too.
Well there's Seed...
lol...Seed is a non-game!
I was absolutely astonished by the utter lack of any content! There is nothing there...it's an empty shell!

I'll prolly end up playing TR...it's looking pretty sweet.
There are some B-list MMOGs on the way...Conflict Omega and Fallen Earth.
Slim pickin's...
