Is anyone else ticked that Blizzard keeps taking servers down for many hours or even whole days at a time? I used to think SOE had poor service availability, but Blizzard is making them look good today.
It'd be great if there was an objective measure of service availability that could be used as a standard part of MMORPG ratings.

do you not know they have maintenance every tuesday....?
If you're talking about the infamous 'Tuesday maintenance', then you just have to stick it out and live with it. Sometimes they do it just for kick and giggles; but other times they're either fixing something they broke last patch, or in the process of breaking something else.
Most of the time, it's a good thing. Blizzard is prone to annoying mistakes, though... for about two weeks, the rogues could not use their valuable vanish ability, and the devs thought this was OK; but God forbid if rogues and warriors are able to fire ranged weapons rapidly... they fixed that two days after it was reported.
The extended maintenance isn't that often at all and if it resolves issues, then that is good.
Some people will complain no matter what I suppose.
There are real things to complain about, when it comes to this game. Let's not throw everything in the complaint box.
1) Find a server that is on new hardware and seems to be up most of the time.
2) Transfer your characters over there OR reroll on that server.
That is what I did a few months ago to avoid 1-2 hour login queues and horrible lag.
I am glad that my realm isn't down for more than normal maint.
At the end of the day it is a fact of life with computing!
Whether you are playing online games, working in an office or just checking your own machine for viruses, downtime is as inevitable as death and taxes.
Servers need to be maintained, backed up, serviced, updated, patched, cleaned and even from time to time break down. I don't mean this in a harsh way, so please don't take it that way, but if you are going to complain about down time you probably want to stear clear of MMO's in general because it is going to happen.
On the plus side, todays downtime on the EU servers should hopefully reap some positive results with all the new hardware being put into place. We will wait and see
It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.
Try this for me, please....
Load up your favorite game.
Now, quickly, change out all of the hardware within your PC, including motherboard, processor, memory, hard drive(s), floppy dirve, CD/DVD ROM(s), sound card, and video card without disrupting the game that you are currently playing.
Let me know how well your game ran while you were swapping out parts.
