I'm sure I knew more about the world when I was 12 years old than some of the people on this board do know, so I'm sure some of the younger members could easily be mature enough mentally for whatever bar you seem to want to set for them.
I suppose it's the idea that youth generally means inexperience, which is sort of true. I mean if someone's only 14 now, they may not have been playing MMOs for 10 years like I have, but that doesn't mean they can't contribute to a conversation about the Genre.

Does it matter? its far too easy to change your listed age to whatever you want it to be, I just did myself a second ago after reading the topic. No I am definately not 99 years of age.

Meh, age is just a number. Some people like a lot of anonymnity when online. I, for one, don't really care how much people know about me, so I gladly (not proudly :P) let people know my age. I really try not to get caught up in people's ages too much. About the only times I bother to look up someone's name is when I make a reference to something from the 80's and I find people that have NO idea what I am talking about. Worse yet, sometimes I find people my own age or older that still haven't heard of the pop-culture reference and I wonder what rock they lived under :P
But other than all that jazz what really is wrong with people who want to hide their age? With the typical biased mindset of a lot of people I wouldn't blame a "young" person, who had something relevant to say, that decided to opt out on announcing their age. Maybe they just want to be heard and judged a little more seriously on merit rather than their age. I wouldn't be quick to assume that just because someone acts immature that they are a "12" year old. Hell, I know plenty of 40 year old's that quickly need their speaking and breeding licenses revoked.
"What is it I have against Microsoft, you ask? Well, you know how you feel when you wait for an MMO to come out and when it does you feel like you've paid to play it's beta test for another 6-9 months before anything even thinks of working the way it should? Being a network engineer you feel that way about anything Microsoft puts out."
