Crafting and the casual player?

lucidtimlucidtim Member Posts: 12

I'm thinking about buying the game and have a few questions about my casual gametime and crafting.

1) Is the crafting part of the game doable for someone with 20 hrs(4 hr blocks) a week of gametime?

2) Will I find it difficult/impossible to make progress in my skills and projects if I find myself alone alot?

3) I've seen references to skills that remain "undiscovered", like building stone structures. Are these skills not in the game yet? If they are in the game how are they unlocked?

20 hours a week for 4 hours a day would be enough to craft and not have to worry about skill loss. Lowest I would say anyone dare go is 12 hours a week for 4 days .

You shouldn't find your self alone if you live in america but the times between america going to bed and europe waking up are the quietest.

As for "unlocked" features a better term would be undiscovered. The Devs are gods in the true sense, they impliment stuff without telling us and it is up to us to discover it, just like it was believed the way the gods worked. So houses are in according to Kanoth we just need to discover how to make them.

20 hours a week is plenty enough to progress and be a productive crafter.

Going it alone will be tough but not impossible.  At a minimum, you will probably find yourself buying resources and tools from other players instead of harvesting/making them yourself.

unless you are planning on doing large construction projects or some such (that would need huge blocks of time), you should be fine. I am in a similliar situation, but my roommate also plays and that has been a huge help. I think even a second account would help alot...
