Now that the new version has been released, things are calming down a little although we are already preparing for the Festival des Jeux Vidéos that will take place in three weeks in Paris...
Version 1.84 summary
This last transition didn't take long and the servers were back up by the beginning of the afternoon with several corrections applied on Wednesday evening in order to fix minor bugs. The main and most bothering one concerned those playing with the ToA client since they couldn't access the new battleground. The fix was sent by Mythic on Thursday.
Some artifact repair prices were not cut by 50% as planned. Checks were made and prices were corrected for certain artifacts but not everything has been updated and we are still working on it.
It should be noted that the exchange of unactivated artifacts for books has been reactivated.
Despite a few linguistic bugs that have been fixed without trouble or delay, we are quite satisfied with this new version which helped solve the very troublesome problem with the consignment merchants. We can now start preparing version 1.85, which should start testing as soon as it becomes stable on American servers.
Changes to Crafting
With version 1.84, several modifications presage the evolution of crafting in Dark Age of Camelot. Even though these changes are not scheduled for the next version we now know more about certain likely improvements which will make life easier for crafters.
Thanks to version 1.84 you don't need cumbersome tools anymore. You can therefore dispose of your smithing hammer, sewing kit, planing tool, mortar and pestle as well as spellcraft and alchemy kits. You can also stack more ingredients and some of them are now lighter in weight.
Recipes have been simplified, ingredients have disappeared (linings for armour are no longer needed and you can thus sell your stocks).
Changes to come will be made on a much greater scale but will only be made available after the release of Labyrinth of the Minotaur. You will find a list of what actually is on the table below, but bear in mind that nothing has been decided yet :
- The crafting interface will be improved.
- All tradeskills will be made available to all classes.
- No recipe will take longer than a minute to complete.
- The number of crafted objects required in order to reach the legendary craftsman rank will be reduced by 40%, which will save time and money.
- Characters might be able to specialise in other tradeskills and reach maximum rank without the limitations on secondary tradeskills.
- Many other features, such as tradeskill quests and the means to save even more time.
No date has been decided for the release of these new features in the US. Thus it doesn't seem wise to wait before starting a tradeskill if you need to…
