I want to like DDO

Dungeons and Dragons is my favorite fantasy setting. I just can't get into DDO. I've create char after char, and I can't seem to play past level 1. I've only gotten one maybe two characters higher than lvl 1. Does the game get better at higher levels? Maybe I just burned myself out from starting over too many times. I'm a couple of days into my 7 day trial, and I'm not really enjoying it. I do like quests, it is the only thing I like in MMORPGs.
My main question is, do the quests get better at higher levels? and at what level oare they fun?

I was an alpha 1 tester and I ran into the same problem. That is where I go the higher levels.

Pretty much every game gets better at higher levels since higher levels give you more options of what you can do and the quests are more interesting because your character can handle more. As usual with any Dungeons and Dragons computer game or PnP game, first level is a bore since every character is pretty much the same. Fifth level is probably the sweet spot where things start really getting interesting because you start seeing more of your class's unique potential.

The best thing I probably did in DDO was to take advantage of the good grouping system it has. I think grouping can be rough lately if you're not in a guild, but the game was way more fun to me after I stopped trying to solo everything. The LFG/LFM screens work well enough, and the built-in voice chat is huge. In DDO, everyone expects even people in a pick-up group to have voice on. In many other games, only raiding parties expect it. Texting while gaming sucks.

If you want to never have idle hands nor a moment of peace, play a cleric. That way you will be required to be monitoring six players all at once while doing three things at once, and if you don't do it to the other players' satisfaction they will get upset and give you an earful. Fun!

Check me on this, but the other awful problem with soloing is your reward is the same as if you were grouped. So a 1000xp dungeon is 1000xp wheather you are solo or in a full group. Much as I hate to use a SOEism, that is just borked risk vs reward.

Thank you for the replies. So, level 5 plus is where it is at? Another question I have, if you don't mind, are the quest interesting at higher levels? I mean like reading a book good, or just better than go kill 20 spiders? I guess what I'm getting at, are the quests good enough that you wat to do the quest to learn the story, or just to get a higher level?

    Thanks,
