Looking to Replace SWG

in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes

Well, I have been looking to Replace Star Wars Galaxies ever since it went to the crapper. I have got to tell you this game looks to be the one. The crafting is even deeper, The player Economy will be even bigger, The housing is "Real"...This is absolutely neccessary when it comes to a Player Run Economy and business's.

So hopefully this game will be the one to replace all the potential SWG had but actually DELIVER on it!

I mean , have any of you other crafters found a MMO that was even close to what we had?

    Beware. To the degree that you blame SOE for the demise of SWG, then you should be aware that Sigil has a co-marketing deal with SOE.

    As I argue in http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/79948 "SOE Will Buy Sigil Eventually", the co-marketing relationship could be the prelude to SOE buying out Sigil 12 to 18 months down the road. Sigil does not deny that this is a possibility.

    I don't blame SOE at all, There is a posting somewhere of that SMED guys blog...He basically says "Without Saying" he will never do someone elses IP again because of the issues it causes...They made us an MMO, Lucas wanted it to sell like SW Battlefield II and we ended up with NGE...

    Also I happen to LOVE EQ II, Just a little over Instanced for my personal taste...So If SOE Owns Vanguard, I have no problem with that at all!

    There is also that thing in his blog about letting smaller 3rd Party companies make these games and then have SOE "Sell & Service" them...good for the little guys and the big guy.

    You have to admit though there is a HUGE HATE SOE FAN CLUB out there...

    SOE is ONLY responsible for billing and such, and if the game now will make a sucsess, why the hell would they sell there game to soe?

    These are just stupid rumors, and stop spread them!

    Welcome! As a SWG beta-to-NGE player I can tell you this game is definatly looking good for former SWG Vets. Be sure to check out the Vanguard Resources for more info on the game if you need any, and be sure to sign up for the Beta ASAP!

    There are other good crafting games, but Vanguard's Crafting System is actually beyond what SWG's was. The Diplomacy System is pretty unique, and an entire game in itself like the crafting system. The Combat System is actually more complex than SWG's Combat ever was. Really, so far the only thing that I don't like about the game is that it's Level based, and you're locked into your Profession. That all said, it's looking good for us SWG Vets...

    Also, SOE is Publishing the game, but has no say in how it's developed or run. Check out Brad's post, he explains it well. There a few folks here who do nothing but Lie & make up "Facts" about the game. It's easy to figure out who, just be aware that what you read here may be someone trying to drive you away. I'm all for critizism, but not blatantly misleading others and screaming fire all day long.

    Good Gaming...

    I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!

    Nicely said. As long as Sigil are doing the development for Vanguard then there is no concern. There has never been a hint that SOE are going to buy Vanguard (despite what Jonaku falsely believes). Brad McQuaid is on record as saying that he has no desires or reasons to sell the game...people just need to read the Sigil FAQ.

    Thankyou for shooting down Jonaku's comeback. He is wrongly spreading false information about Vanguard. It does not help anyone.

    And welcome to the Vanguard fandom! You will love this game.
