A nerf was sneaked into this last patch .. Moonelves Ellementist , take triple damage , fully Buffed... Not just from mobs but from players aftering talking with my guild at length , about the future of Archlord.. I decided to uninstall the worst game I ve seen. Each patch makes it more and more unplayable.
It is now confirmed after finding a tester with over 1500 credits , that there will be stiff and unsurmountable advantge to players who have more than 1500 credits. The game after 25 focuses on grind , Mages who use to AOE in groups are now finding it impossible to get off there spells before death. The only fix to this is Lens , at 41 players is going through over 3000 Lens a session.
In serveral duels testing the advantge of Lens vs non Lens, Lens character process 10x faster , do 100 points more damage , and can spam X-Large pots much faster than someone without.
The last patch which was suppose to increase drops and pots drops, has shown no effect. Other than mounts dropping every once in a while .. These cant be traded , and cant only be sold for 25k , the same cost as 200 large pots (about) .
From 9 or 10 last night .. to 3:30 this morning .. Our small unit , gained 20% , killing groups of lvl 28 to 36. I died a dozen or so times to bugs , such as Ice Armor shutting down shortly after buffing , Soul Barrier shutting down shortly after using , lag and freezes .. to the favorite of being out of sink with the server and not being able to shut down ... had to kill the game.
We saw no improvements in drops , or potions. Out of all the critters we killed we saw 1 mount , and 2 green armors.. and maybe 12 large pots. Durability is a major problem still , and seems to decay much faster than before.
You cant not imagine how broken the game , and how unstable the server is. It crashes a more than 20 times a night , while I understand they are often times running debugging or database search progams during betas .. I ve never seen one where it crashed so much so close to release.
The Codemasters CSR has gotten tons worse since Rfonline .. They make you wait days for a respone , then when they do response to you has little to do with the problem and more of company line.
It doesnt even feel like they are trying to important things .. they are beyond FUBAR , each patch breaks something and each patch makes it unplayable.
Gamespot editor and Ebgame (along with others) have said Open Beta ends the 29th of Sept , then it will be released in Oct 3... It takes them a week to decide if they are going to patch and fix something. Stuff is still in Korean , Item Mall was busted , Elementist are busted , Archer Human are busted (more than half cant put stones in their armor and they cant even buy Armor on AH.),
Our low lvl friend who was 8 , has to decide between fixing armor ( almost 4k for his weapon) , and buying potions. This last patch caused his reinforcement pots to vanish from the AH ...
The last thing to touch on , is PKer and justice system. The system isnt in yet , there are a host of exploits , from exiting the client , to making yourself impossible to target. Moonelf Elementist can out run you , and leave thier monster to pk you , in a matter of seconds it will be immune to damage.
Human Archers are beyond over powered , at 9 I was easily able to kill a lvl 12 to 15 , all expect for mages of that same lvl range.

also, if anything, this would be a preview, as the game is still in beta, simple as that.
It's not a rant, it's a current state of the game post. Based on players' experience. With every "patch" they introduce more and more bugs and old bugs don't get fixed. Not even 2 weeks before announced retail and game is getting worse and worse and more buggy every day.
Many ppl did not see any increase in drops.
Elementalists are not only nerfed and broken (can't use essential part of skill tree) from previous patches but nerfed again - armors not working. I bet you don't play high level elementalist, do you?
Items are starting to get lost in trades or in Auction house.
Chantra shop was disabled again.
Some quest bosses stopped dropping items needed to finish the quest. (Which wasn't happening before)
The annoying humming sound or stuck teleport sound that reappears every 5-10 minutes was not fixed.
Server DOES crash a lot lately.
Even client is less stable after last server changes.
Yes, bugs in a BETA phase, now that NEVER happens /sarcasm
and for paying 50$ for a game, then I suppose I can expect a product with minimum to no bugs, No? did it ever came to mind that CM MIGHT want to patch everything in one large patch? beta is not retail, period.
Beta or not, many people will be using the beta to judge the release. Simple as that.
Dude its just his opinion and his personal review of the game... its what he exsperianced ive watched you flame everyone that has a bad opinion of this game do you work for Archlord i gotta know
Beta does no = Retail.
First off, they are two different words anyways. :d
And Beta = buggy.
Retail = Not.
See the difference? ^^

By all means, show me a post where I flamed people because of their opinion about Archlord. if you can't, then I kindly ask you to stop making statements like that.
also, a review of a product that is not complete yet is called a preview. not to mention he only discribes a part of the game. this preview couldn't possibly be more flawed.
My writting name is Azurel Nothing or Lost Heaven ... I have been writing freelance since I was 14 , reviewing Beta and release. Last review , I was allowed to write was for CoH , 3 weeks before end of Closed Beta and Begining of Open Beta / Retail launch.
At the time , the NDA , was lifted , and the reviews for the CoH was launched. Comparing that beta to this one , bugs were far and few between. They polished it so much in Open Beta , that is was a work of Art.
My editor , sat me down , (I write at 9th grade level) , ask me to write some adventure stories for CoH , that were published in an Online Disk , for ebooks.
I ve written many different accounts of iin game experience and what lies ahead for gamers. I ve writen more than a dozen handbooks for Lineage 1 , DAOC , and Lineage 2. I wrote a review of Lineage 1 at the end of Open Beta , when NCsoft took charge.
Its my account and personal view .. most times I m pretty objective and pretty on point.
Maybe I m getting old , or whatever , but this game was launched in 2005 , and I feel at this stage in its lifetime , it should not have such major critical errors , and should not be such as asshat project that you 1) dont know what is in patches 2) You break sometime every patch 3) You are forced to buy a increase in real life money to compete at a normal rate compared to current games on the market.
I can see the need for in real life cash making the game playable , if it was free and by choice. But here you are being forced to buy a DVD , for 50.00 , then a package of at least 20.00.
The game in its current state does not warrant 20.00 , the game in its current is almost as bugged as AO was , at least there they could say "Its not a nearly 2 year game."
--------------
Unlike you Gameloading , I dont have a vested interest to see the game succeed. I did not write this because the xp was changed or because the drop table is weak. I wrote this because this is how the game will be at release. You expect Codemasters to release a single or double "all in one cure" patch in 2 weeks?
I ve seen companies try to do that , Shadowbane , Dark and Light , SWG , DAOC , and they have been plague with a round of new bugs and breaks in the game that took months to fix. Even if it was in the realm of possibility , that doesnt change the fact that the game will be domated by 40.00 individuals and that the base package of 9.99 only covers the first 20 levels at best.
Nor does it neglect the fact that the GM staff are poorly trained , and the CSR staff beyond incompentant.
Bugged filled , lacking content but grinding for 35 to 40 lvls, massive exploits by PKers , loopholes in the game. Unstable server , broken classes , poorly balanced classes (when factoring in Lens) , inability to fix things without a week of debate and the fixes are weak.
this is a game destined to fail IMO Codemasters seems to be taking every possible step to run it into the ground and or make it unplayable. You dont implement a patch and then after 90% of the community freaks out about send out emails saying it was unintentional. You dont create a game supposedly guild centric with multi racial possibilities and then make getting together dependent on "credit purchases" and you dont make training impossible unless your in a town/city of your own race. IMO within 3 months of launch the patch we all complained about will be implemented again on a perm basis, effectively screwing over those people with the fortitude to stick with it. The whole suit of armor thing for the 1st archlord is a great idea but if the run the game the way im thinking only a huge guild with every member playing half the day or more every day and shelling out for the 40 buck a month package will be able to get the job done, and even then not for almost a year after release. I could be wrng on every count but I dont think I am. Communication between CM and the community is almost non-existent. No, or misleading ambiguous or outright incorrect, patch notes. No list of known bugs, no list of what areas need specific testing. No idea of what theyre working on, or what theyre planning to do. The game IMHO has so much potential for greatness that it borders absurd when you play it long enough to see that most if not all of it will never be realized. I have serious misgivings about the games longevity, and do not want to be anywhere near it when it comes crashing down.
overall: could have been fantastic, will be one of the bigger disappointments we see heading into 2007 when games seemingly capable of living up t their potential will be in beta and releasing, after which I do not see a player base for this game. At 10 bucks a month might be worth passing the time if you have nothing else to do or play but if they make the game dependent on how many credits you have, that 5 dollar monthly savings will become 10 dollars you throw away.
Who says they have only been working on it for 2 weeks? Unless you work for either Codemasters OR NHN games, then you have no idea what bugs will be fixed, and which one won't. and yes I expect CM to release a "all in one" cure patch in 2 weeks. because starting from then, I will be a paying subscribers and I expect a game with minimum bugs.
Have you even seen Codemasters actions in the past? The shipped a bugged filled RFonline went on patching and breaking throughout the game's lifespan. NHN according to everyone , and every review , has the inability to address critical errors in there projects. You know that NHN has a history and its very easy to track down , there lack of interest in patching titles.
The are par with Wolfpack in 1999 in thier inability to fix major bugs before release.
Hardly. I reacher higher levels then 20 (I even created new character after the patch) and I played without using the cash shop ONCE. also, ask yourself, How many people will actually pay 40$ a month for a game? Not a lot I can tell you, the game simply isn't worth 40$ a month. you don't need those enhancement potions. sure they give a nice boost, but I can work just fine without them. Anybody who is used to korean grind will see that its not that bad. its hardly a fact, thats for sure.
Without a 20/20 you gain at best .10% at lower levels , up to .20% (post 20). As you reach the 30s , and begin to pvping , you will see that Lens terribly upset the balance of the game. At 31 one you 1100 lens per lvl , at higher lvls it will take over 10,000 lens to do one level. A Mage type that relies heavily on skills , would not be able to play without Lens. The skill recharge time is too insane , without our buffs (armor and skill block) we are 1 shot cannon fodder for monsters that are the same lvl or below.
Even going Single target with a mage doesnt help because of the random agro that monsters have.
Do you know the D&D curve in Lineage 1 before Land of Aden was introduced? I was max level on 2 characters , one character the Prince , could not solo after a point. Dont tell me about grind , Lineage 1 was the ultimate of all grinds.
Played tons of Nexon products too , still have my KSSN from Lineage 1 beta , and continue to play Korean games. Archlord advance is steep as you get into the higher levels , more so than any MMORPG out there. The problem is they made it so you would need the Item Mall to make a living.
Alchemic Dream
Go ask anyone from Dark and Light thier experience with AD. Terribly trained people.
again, did you ever consider that they might want to bring the final updates in one patch?
How can you expect anything good to come out of all in cure patch if they release? Dont you see the side effects of thier patches .. Hell its like the meds I m on , either I die from not taking it or accept the risk of bleeding to death from taking them.
There is no win win situation here , if they launch the game on Oct 3 with a massive patch to fix all , that wont be tested until retail and they will have you paying for beta.
There scrambling now .. What half ass patch is going to be released to fix the problem with Xp , gold , and other problems within 2 weeks? Can manage to pay for beta for 3 months while this all sorted out and maybe patched.
Also on RO front ... that game was making before launch of US beta , it had interest in seeing patches fixed. NHN unlike Gravity shows little interest in fixing problems, do a search on them , Koreans and publishers alike dont think they are handling thier games well.
Can't wait to see what defense you use when the game goes retail yet still keeps alot of the bugs and ends up with more.
Im sure everyone understands the term "Beta", but do you understand the game is going retail VERY shortly? How many games have you beta tested? In all those games have you seen the game go from this bad to anything worth paying for in the amount of thime this game has to going retail?
Didint think so.....

actually I did, the game was called Ragnarok Online.
and what defense? Once the game has gone retail, you have the full right to complain about the game bugs. but not during Beta.
back to RO, RO's BETA was horrible, and wasn't fixed untill shortly at retail.
For accusing him of not playing alot of OB games, you sure haven't played the worst,
like he mentioned, Ragnarok Online was by far the worst failure in my MMO OB history.
This game while it does have its glaring problems was pretty good. The servers were
up everytime I wanted to play. My Moon Elf which I leveled to 20 was fun, despite my important
skills not even working. My Orc after the nerf patch didn't suffer any major problems.
The drop rate is completely fine. The potions on the other hand I'd increase a bit. The Item
Shop, despite working for 1 day proved that it could work. An important feature of
a game like that has to be fixed. Quests were working. Graphics were great. CM actually
has real staff monitoring the board and talking to players ....
All in all ... not bad.

Why the Hell do you bring up WOW , again and again. You have no experience with any other MMORPG? In Lineage 1 before NCsoft US patched us , we made 8 adena to 32 adena per mob our level. And items cost in the thousand. There were other ways of making income aside from grinding.
Fast foward today , and Archlord .. the average 29 weapon cost 200k , the average 29 purple armor is 80k per piece, and the average cost to repair is 7k for weapon , 500 for each piece of armor , the typical grinder makes 50 gold per kill .. there is no way to craft without grinding .. grinding is the only thing to do after 25 .. pots at 30 cost 5k a stack ..
So lets say you grind 50 golld per kill you would need to kill 10k enemies for lvl 29 weapon and some of armor. If you want to craft you have to grind (average 4 items x 4 items + store bought items ) You wouldnt turn a profit , as these items sell for an average of 300 gold. (And the buff pots can do the same thing in most cases)
From NHN track record I would say if Codemasters puts the boot to them anytime within the last week and half , we will see a patch that fixes AH bugs 2 weeks after retail.

Ok good, so the day this game goes retail and you realize the bugs and the bull will remain, you wont defend it any longer???

I used World of Warcraft as an example because WoW is easy, Archlord is not. in Archlord it simply takes time to make money. period. sometimes you have to set back a step in leveling and collect some money. its exactly like Lineage 2 when it comes to economy. I have plenty of experience with mmorpg's, in fact, I'm actually starting to wonder about YOUR experience when it comes to korean MMORPG's.

Yes, once the game hits retail, Codemasters wont have any excuse for gamebreaking bugs.
