I have been reading the forums here on SWG for about 5 months. I enjoy the banter between the vets and NGRs. I have to say you all make your points well. I love the vets though, believe me I sympothize.
I started playing SWG CU in July 05. I never played pre-cu. I was shortly hooked, and it was like crack. I'm a big Star Wars fan (born in the 70's). I have an Xbox and own both Outcasts and KOTORs. When I played SWG it killed the others and can't even play them now with out feeling confined. I don't care about fantasy and have never tried WOW or any other based on that genre. The only other MMO I have tried is EVE.
I have only played CU. I quit the day before the NGE because I was crafter and relied on other crafters for items like architect smocks. I was a master architect on the way to becoming a master shipwright. Then the NGE rumors hit. All of the crafters stopped producing items. I would travel only to find I could no longer place orders. This alone pissed me off to quit. I found out later I was right to do so.
I don't care about combat. I don't care about being jedi. For me the fun was the crafting and experiencing SWG through those eyes. I never made it higher than CL 14. I eventually went to CL 1 to have space for merchant skill points. I relied on speed for getting around the planets, and planning. I'd place harvesters and collect. Space mine. I would play the JTL for combat.
I have read the pre-CU vets comments on it and have to say I wish there was a pre CU version out there somewhere. I would love a CU version too, since that is what I originally played. I have tried the trial and don't like it (NGE).
I do do miss crafting though. EVE's crafting wasn't good. Anything worth while to make was to far off to make and the rest of the game left me bored. So I quit it after 2 months. I think it was a good game, just not for me.
I am going to play SWG for the next 4 months. As a crafter for the joy of it. I don't care if anyone buys what I make. I will play until I complete the trader trees and stop, I will play until the 4 months is up, the trader revamp comes in, if it sucks then I'll quit on the spot, or pre-NGE servers are hosted as part of a recent rumor over the "complete" offerd by SOE and move over there.
I know there are many vets that think I am wrong and I understand why. But I'm BORED and want to play my crafter. Flame me if you wish, I accept. That is why this posted in the General and not the new "current game only". Believe me though, I want pre-nge too. I want to try the pre-cu. I think it would be fun and maybe somebody would buy what I have to sell from crafting.
I understand that giving my my money is encouraging SOE that they are doing the right thing. But they won't get it for long. Also if they don't improve (rumors) then at least I have access to the forums to let my opinions be deleted, I mean heard. Right Bissrock. Sorry for the spelling.

I have to say that of the current gamers on this forum I respect you. You seem to love the game and let others criticisims roll off your back. Yes I will be a structures crafter and don't mind starting from scratch. That will actually be fun. Right now, the updates are loading and just want to craft. It is my understanding that you are from New zealand and play on an european server, is this correct? Which One? I am a American and want to play on a good server. I used to play on Infinty. However I couldn't stand the down severes in prime U.S. time. Do you know of the best U.S. server for matuer population. Less "leet" the better, maybe RP.

Thanks for the reply. I think I'll try a character on your server first. To be honest I didn't do much RP in CU. I only mentioned it because I wanted to get away as much as possible the the instant kill people that allegdedly popped up with the NGE. If there is any more that you can tell me about your server, great. I am looking to have some fun as a crafter. I would like a place that appreciates crafters, but it it is not expected.

TBH, I can't really say how Chilastra compares to the other servers as I don't play on any other servers (other then TC as new publishes are released). I'm sure every server has their share of the new younger players though
Keep out of Eisley though and you can mostly escape it :P
I do have a crafter though that I'm fairly active on and I've never been harrassed while playing him, even in Eisley

But isnt that Cantina the most full, with the most activity in a city?
Is there a city now on some of the servers that is more full or busy?

I understand exactly what you are saying, I play my Smuggler the same way, I just role play him and that’s all. For mature game play you like Obr said you will want a role playing Server, you will enjoy it, they have great events and their events are direct towards being able to role play in it. In the server Obr mentioned they actually have sections were you can become a member for Crafters check it out you might like it. Have fun. Bring it on down now.

. Isk, as a vet I'm sure you can't believe I'm playing and I would agree with you to a point. That is why I will only post in general so you and other vets can post and reply to what I have to post( right or wrong on my part) without being banned of disciplined by the mods. I want feedback from all including the honerable if not very funny vets (waiting on you shayde!). Remember I actually do sympothize with you and I haven't played this version enough to see if I can't stand it yet. I will say I'm a crafter and don't care about Jedi and think it is something that should be earned.
