It’s not just the simplification

I’ve been reading those theories about how MMO games work and the different type of players.

If those “rules” still apply on todays gaming community SOE has overlooked more than trying to attract the WoW/mythical target audience while screwing over the costumers they had.

The new NGE content focus toward the killer (PvP) audience while the content for achievers and socialisers got ripped out or rendered pointless in SOEs attempt to go mainstream/simpler. What is said is that games catered to PvPers/killers drive achievers and socialisers away (the 2 groups that bring in most subscribers) and the fact that killers need other playstyles to feed off

here are some lof the inks:

I think they needed or wanted a PVP game for their station pass. They'll get the socializers and acheivers back with Vanguard.

I've seen quite a number of posts that mention the fact that if you don't like 1 of soloing/grouping/raiding then you shouldn't waste your time with Vanguard.

I loathe and detest Raiding (that'll be why I left WoW at level 50 something), so I shall be giving Vanguard the old two finger salute.

Oh yeah, and it's got an SOE association anyway as if that wasn't reason enough for me to avoid it!

They had planetside in the station pass. All pvp a few levels to go up and a fps. No this was an atempt get the claws into a audience that just wasnt there. Bad buisness call bad idea all around really.

Vanguard is a VERY social game... true, you can solo all day long, but name a game you can't. The truth is that in VSoH to advance through tough quest lines, travel through dangerous areas, take on bosses, build Cities, craft major items or even equip yourself with quality items, you need to be social...

I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!

    In fact, forget the SWG!!!!

I don't buy their (the Industry's) demographics.  I want to see the surveys they did and sampling and what not.  They create these poulations achiever, explorer, socializer, and PvP'er and to tell you the truth, I'm all the above.

Now on to what I don't like about Vangard:  "High End loot will come from crafting 15% of the time."

A few things I don't like about that statement:

1- It suggests a loot-centric game.  It suggests your whole drive for playing is the aqusition of loot.  In SWG the whole point of playing was in the interaction between players (am I wrong?).  I'm not really all that interested in playing for a "5W0RD 0F U83RN355."

2- It suggests lateral advancment through loot.  I just can't stand that concept, your strategy and skill (mental reflexes) should make your ability, not some bit of pixels.

3- Only 15% of the High End Goodies will be crafted, I'm sorry I just need a real crafter based economy.

Is this how Vangaurd is gonna be or did I missread / read too deep into something?
