Can anyone tell me if they are using a flat screen monitor for any of the recently released online rpg's and how the graphics are? I hate having a huge monitor sitting on my desk and don't mind shelling out the cash for a slim monitor.
I heard that flatscreens are not good for gaming (too much ghosting?), but I was wondering if that was more restricted to non-online, graphics intensive games.
Thanks for the input (if any).

Hi,
I've got the samsung syncmaster171N tft monitor. It works fine for me. The only thing you need to look for when you buy a flat is that it has a react time below 20sec and a high contrast (about 500:1). I can play all games without problems and it looks fine. Only my friends ask why the colours are so bad when they look from the side

My flatscreen is fine...no problems with any game, and being a addicted gamer, I think I'd notice :P
when i bought my rig, i went for crt
flats are known to become "blotchy" in high graphic games
i wouldn't know myself, but i do not suggest mixing a flat panel and a rad9800 xt

As for the ghosting problems, it's becoming less of an issue as improvements are made in LCD's. Quite a few people that have bought some of the higher end LCD's, that are gamers, are very happy with thier monitor. Nearly all have said they will never go back to a CRT again as their LCD's give them a much brighter picture, less eye strain and a huge saving on space.
One bit of advice would be to read as many reviews as you can at places like http://www.anandtech.com/ and http://www.tomshardware.com/ and check out thier forums for what people say. After that if you're still uncertain, just buy a decent LCD from a local store that has a return policy to 'test drive' an LCD to see if you really would like one or not. If you do, return it and get one online to save the most.
Flat panel runs quite good in mmorpgs.
You might notice some slowdown in FPS with intense graphics but you have to have a keen eye.
Also the better quality LCD are known to perform as well as CRT but cost a bundle.
So if you insist on having a flat panel then make sure its a high end one from a known company.
You can easily get away with a low end one and not notice anything but with the graphics intensity coming in games now you be noticing it over the next year.Add to fact we will soon be having cards like the nv40 and the ATI verions giving boost to graphics power/speed of over 40% on the radeon 9800xt/geforcefx5950ultra you would not want your monitor to be the one to slow you down.
So buy wisely if you are going flat panel.
