Go back to the first release version (or maybe the last beta version since there were major bugs that were fixed at the end of beta that made it into Live) and run the beta test until it's really done.  Use lessons learned from the last three years to get it done right.

The original game could have been fixed, but not after it had gone Live.  Changes needed to be made before the first kreetle was killed, before the first resources were hand-pulled from the ground in Live.

At this point I would settle for a working game.  You know all the professions working.  The game being fun and star warsy.  Basically I would settle for star wars legos the mmo right now.

Its incredibly simple for me....   Simply pre nge servers.    Yes I would very much prefer pre cu, but i would go back in a heartbeat just for pre nge.   I dont even have to have my stuff back (in other words new servers would be ok) I just need the game that i loved back in a playable form.  

Oh and i could care less about dev support, that has proven to be a dangerous propostition.   Just give me my sandbox, dammmmmitttt.....

Start with one Pre-Cu server started fresh and clean.  Preferably pre-pub9, but I would even take pub13 with JTL just to make things easier. If that server fills up (and I know it will) then start another one.

And give us some dev support to fix the bugs, and I mean FIX the bugs not do some sort of enhancement.



Someone spoke of SOE not wanting us but wanting WoW's audience...  I am one of WoW's audience.  I would drop wow in a heartbeat for a classic server.

Has to be Step One to show they actually learned from their mistakes.  Step Two is divorcing Torres from any association with the game.

Then put up Classic Servers. 

Then enable free Character Transfer so that anyone who has a pre-NGE character that was *never* converted to NGE can move it to the Classic server and be ready to roll.  People who have converted NGE characters .... eh, it would be nice if they let you transfer them and had a good set of Character Conversion code that made you playable again, but given their track record here, I'm not holding my breath.

Then give us 90 free days to (a) let them fix the Classic servers, because we know given past performance that they'll be Alpha quality at best, nobody in the current dev team knows anything about coding pre-CU game elements and (b) show us they're serious about this being supported, quality code of a level never achieved previously in SWG.

That would do it ... I'd give them 90 days to show me they're serious and that Smedley and Torres' replacements know which end is Up.  If I see progress toward quality and customer service, you will keep me and I'll pay monthly fees.  If you don't, I'm gone.  Again.  Give me value for money or watch me walk, every time.

And it is just for that reason why they could not open Classic servers without starting fresh.  They have already admitted they made a mistake in their handling of the NGE, what you asked for would alienate some players again by allow some people to transfer toons and not others.  I would not be allowed to transfer as would many because I at least tried the NGE.  To be fair to everybody, they would have to start fresh or they have not learned anything from this.  I doubt SOE would intentionally make this mistake again.

Hey, ideally they'd have a pre-CU rollback point for every server and they'd let you transfer that rollbacked toon to the Classic server, but no, I don't for a second believe they have the data.

I'd start fresh on Classic given the other preconditions, but I'd certainly rather have back what they took away, i.e., all the pre-CU character dev work I did that they trashed in the NGE.  Let's be clear, they have to WOO me back, they already blew every iota of trust I have in them as businessmen and software developers, a whispered 'we're sorry' and the chance to grind from zero again in hopes that they won't screw me over again is not very compelling.

Enough support to keep them reloaded if they crash.
Written contract stating:

• No established profession will ever again be removed from the game.  If they introduce a new profession and it bombs, then they can remove that.
• All future changes to the interface will allow for users to opt-out back to the old UI.
• Future modifications to the game will be to add content only or fix bugs (bug defined as something that is not working as opposed to somebody not liking the way it is working).
• They must also maintain some NGE servers for those that prefer that style of game.  We wish to end the Playerbase Civil War, not reverse roles.

Ah I love it.  Disgruntled SWG Vets with heart.  Exactly, I don't want what happened to us to happen to them.  We've been through it and it sucks.  No more war with SOE just let us play.

        And as a bonus to all those who left because of CU or NGE,  when you subscribe to the SWG Classic edition,  you will get a free 30 days to try it out and also receive a free Mastery of any Starting Profession!

How can we do this?  Because we are SOE!!  How can we do this?  We don't know,  we're just CRAZY!!

An ad campaign along those lines would go a long way to bringing me back!!

Well for starters, they would have to give all the rights to the game to another company.  SOE will never take back all of the customers they worked so hard to get rid of.  Slap Lucas Arts for letting it end up like it did.  Return the game to its original status and work out all of the little glitches and balance issues from there.  I personally saw a huge problem with ranged weaponary Pre-CU.  It was worthless.  Everyone ethier had a lightsaber or Tera Kasi.  That would be the first priority.  Ethier Jedi Perma Death, or some form of massive penalty for dying as Jedi like loosing all of your powers and starting from scratch.  It would make the Star Wars environment seem more along the lines of the time period in which the game was suppose to take place.  There wasn't Jedi roaming the galaxy in gank squads.  Add better awards and content.  Giving a player a one use item for sticking around on a game is absolutely rediculas.  Make it easier to repair items without any risk of loosing them.

Blah blah blah, the list goes on.  They are not going to undo what they did, they made it loud and clear that they don't give a damn about veteran Star Wars Galaxies players.  They hate us, and hope we all die.
