so... how you guys think this game is going to turn out?

i think its going to be great! i love marvel, and played cryptic studio's COH and COV for some time now... so im really excited for this new game.

how you guys think the whole gameplay is going to be?`and powers? maybe you can choose powersets from famous marvel heroes/villains... but that would be kinda hard to balance..


btw, i would LOVE to controll everything that contains iron, like magneto. and teleport like Nightcrawler!

    Marvel is and will always be better than the DC universe... the story and plot of the game will hopefully match the dynamic lines that have always been a Marvel trademark. I really am hoping that the game turns out even half as good as Marvels history, and that they do not make it a COH/COV clone.

    IMHO they will turn out a good product because they want to take biz away from COH/COV, but the penny pinchers may reduce it to a "me too game" (where thay make a clone and say we have something just as good as they do but we have our name on it).

    yeah, they proly take like, the customation engine from COH/COV, but maybe COH/V will refuse, cause thats their "trademark". cause their known for that.

    and as i meantioned: what about classes? you think there is going to be classes? or that you can pick powers from a marvel heroe/villain?

    and where do you think this game will eb placed?`what kind of universe? a new city maybe? (like COH, Paragon city),..cause its proly to hard to copy a whole city, say New York..

    Marvel has a pretty sketchy record with 'Quality'.  They sell-out to lots of low-end crappy toys, movies, and games.  This being said, they do have some good stuff.  I would say the strength of this new game will be Microsoft's involvement.  If this remains high on the MS priority list, then it could be good.  If it dwindles on the priority screen of MS, then we could be in for yet another sub-par MMO license.

    Since Cryptic is the developer I would think it will retain many of the same features and style of CoH/CoV.

    Hopefully Microsoft will just throw them money and let them do what they know how to do .... make a superhero game.

    I'm just hoping we don't see static Heros - suddenly they stop working as we join the game - i'd love to see the incredible Hulk causing some chaos and all the super Hero close to the area have to stop him before he progresses on words..

    I think this game will be about as empty and depthless (is that a word ) as COH/COV...

    Fun for about a few weeks, but then it will be the same old repetative grind fest.  Cryptic is the new Turbine.

    Orcourse I could be wrong and maybe Cryptic and Jack have learned there lessons from the mistakes in COX... But I doubt it, we tried to tell him about those flaws in beta of COH and he ignored most of us. Only to try to iimplement some of them later....


     SOE's Superhero MMORPG will get it right...They always make decent games at launch, its what they do to them after that sucks..

    Not at all for me since I wont be using windows vista for the next 2 years.

    Microsoft & mmorpg:s? Yah that didnt go to well last time (hint: who needs text chat in mmorpg:s anyway)...

    As far as I'm concerned, another super-hero MMO won't do nearly as well as City of Heroes/Villains.  There's already so much customization in CoH, it's surprising to think there could be any greater appeal to the game.  But who knows, since Cryptic's developing the new Marvel MMO, maybe with such a strong license and their patented super costume customization system... it could be a huge success.

    Who knows... maybe super-hero fans will final get the game they've always been waiting for...

    If they do it right by not having it level based, and don't clone COH/COV, then it might stand a chance.

    I mean who wants to see the Hulk as some level X mob? He is the Hulk and he is dangeous, that is all that should matter.

    I think that Superhero MMOs should be skill based. The more you know how to use your powers, the more effective they are.

    I agree with ya there, seeing a lvl 35 hulk running around or in SOE's case maybe a lvl 35 Superman look a like just doesn't make much sense to me.

    Do away with the levels make it skill based... Although there would be a problem of knowing who to grp with for missions and things of that nature, but im sure they can come up with something for that.

    Here is teh final fact:

    Last ditch effort by Microsoft to get customers.

    They bombed a bit on the 360, myriad of small problems with it, and is probably going to be eclipsed by the PS3 with its BluRay capabilities (60GB per disc? fuck yeah, HUGE games) and better gameplay.

    They are trying to make it only for the Vista and 360, which is a stupid, strongarm tactic. Almost like saying you would need a Mac to play WoW. If that was true, then WoW would not have near as many customers. The Marvel Universe is going to bomb, because it is going to be a well disguised clone of CoH and CoV, but tailored to Marvel fans, just as WoW was modeled to fans of Warcraft.

    We will see in beta testing if it is the uber game or not. My vote is its not going to be, but who knows? It might be everything that CoH/V is, and more. It might be the best MMO ever, on this earth.

    Maybe. Probably. Like, one in a million.

    I agree that legendary Marvel characters shouldn't be maginalized, but they still have to make the game fun.  Assuming a level 50 cap (for agruement's sake), I would hope to run into The Rhino at level 10, Bullseye at level 20, Dr. Doom at level 30 etc...  If it's done right, it would still feel like an epic encounter while developing your character.  But these NPC should certainly not be roaming the countryside waiting to be farmed

    i agree too. and, about leveling and learining skills and all that, its proly going to be hard for them. and if you could choose one of marvel heroes to be, like hulk or spiderman, then they might make it so that there can only be one of a heroe in a server ( only one magneto on each server ect), what your guys opinion on that? myself thinks that that would be cool, but only if i got to me one that i wanted :P, and btw, if they did it like that, the "heroes" would proly be hard to balance, ect, let say Elektra is running around killing mobs, and "poof" everyone is dead, and elektra is like " oh, hi Hulk".

    and pvp? you think there is going to be a pvp system? but then they had to have villain heroes too, wich i would like :)

    whats that "vista" thing? the game can be played on a normale Microsoft windows computer, right?

    Vista is the new Windows OS.  Most are skeptical because new OS releases ofter take a year to work out the bugs.  Not many 'computer' types will trade their 2000 or XP for Vista right away including myself.

    Of course it's going to be a near CoH clone, it's developed by the same company!

    I honestly believe that it is Cryptic's hope to create a more improved CoH with the popular Marvel license and background.

    Think about it, you take the best elements of CoH/CoV... combine them with newer, better gameplay, better graphics, Marvel icon superheroes/villains, maybe some cutscenes with voiceovers, and you've pretty much got the greatest superhero game ever.

    I'm obviously skeptical, but it's logical all the same.  I mean come on, why else would Cryptic redirect their focus to creating ANOTHER SUPERHERO MMORPG when they already have the only one in existence!!

    yeah, they proly listen to peoples complain, and fixes things that people didnt like in COX. i think the game is going to be great!
