Ahhh, I hadnt thought of that. I got the emails and while I havent logged on to the game I did try to sign in to see if I could. My original acct. under chlaos which was my combat acct has been activated and I could have logged in, but my crafting acct wont work for some reason. I was actually going to post that it was probably a technical glitch because 99% of my criticism both on the suckboards and elsewhere was under the chlaos name. But I do have a jedi on the chlaos acct, and I believe an old unused bh.
Arent those two proffs the only ones that have gotten their expertise done? On one hand it makes a little sense since they would be more likely to enjoy it (i guess). But then again, it seems like a shitty way to go about it. If your going to do that at least be straight up about it and say this is what were doing and why were doing it.....

Hmm....Well, if you dont have a jedi or bh and got in, it just seems even stranger that some work and some dont. Like I said earlier I dont buy the conspiracy stuff on this one, but its still strange. Would there be any reason for them to do it in stages? Is it likely that its just a technical glitch? I think he may be partly right I was a bh and my account was activated with this promotion . Yet there may be another issue . I know for fact Wildcat was a jedi . His account is not active , That could be due to him only quiting under a month ago or Something struck me in that e-mail someone posted ,It said Banned accounts and accounts in good standing in the same sentence .
It is possible certain people who may have red flags( so to speak,yet not banned) were not included in account activations with this offer .It is possible the more vocal members here ,Who may have been just as vocal on SOE forums were not eligible for the offer . Due to them not wanting you spamming their boards , Just a hunch.

So it could just be a combination of offering jedi/bh accts a free trial, but weeding out some in the process? Yeah, I guess that makes sense. I was a pretty vocal critic on the acct they reactivated, but didnt spam or get too out of hand.
Havent decided whether or not im going to try again or not, but I would have been alot more likely to do so with my crafting acct. I just dont like the nge combat, and its hard to see that being improved, despite the changes it still pseudo-fps. Oh well..../shrug

I talked to a friend of mine last night on TS that still plays time to time...I really consider this guy smart and by all means no fool. He did tell me he is a in a small group that does things RP wise that is very focal.
In a way I wish I could avoid logic and try it... but I can't that's just me. Crap, I'm in the IT field so that can't help at all. I guess this will come down to What people ACCEPT over what they EXPECT.
Knowing all that we do makes this worse, if we knew nothing, exepcted all these bugs then maybe just maybe we could play it.
However, we know what was better, some people LISTEN to what SOE says, LISTEN to what the president of the company says... LISTEN to what they say at the summits, KNOW what was told to us and what has really happend over all the promises made.
This will all break down to logic and sense. Some people can see past all they did, Some cannot.
To me this is a product, of entertainment. My loss was to much to consider coming back in, on top of all the other issues. To me it is pretty much damage control at this stage, adding in things in broken manners NOT quite the same to try to fufill the needs and wants of people, Target Lock, Combat log, UI -- Slowing down combat -- even bounties was not going to make a return at one time.
NOT ONE OF THESE THINGS WAS EVER SLATED to make a return but they have had to spend time on it, add these in some fashion NOT EXACTLY like the pre-NGE days to try to hold on to what people they had.
The expertise was NEVER slated and again was damage control... by adding it in based on peoples scream for diversity.
All in all this has turned into one giant game change into DAMAGE CONTROL... not a advancment..nothing more then a "Oh crap, we better add in XXXXX and XXXXXX then bring back XXXXXX and XXXXXX then claim we are doing well because we did this, sure it's not the same but HEY what will they know"....
So far bringing things back is exactly the proof that the idea of the NGE is a failure... 11 months later and the thought of HAVING to bring things back so people we be almost happy proves this.
But see, this is logic. Passion and Logic do not have enough space to be in the same room here. The NGE was NOT MADE TO BRING BACK OLD WAYS... but now it is being forced to ATTEMPT to be this.
I find it funny each time I see somthing brought back, that we already had .. then someone say "GREAT JOB DEVS!!! , This is what we needed?!" When in fact we freaking already had it once and they took it away.
Logic at it's best no doubt now.

*I* never thought much of the fact they offered the trial.
They have done that so many times in EQ1 for former players... its just part of how they operate.
The only thing I found strange... was how many people couldn't take part of the offer. I never remember in EQ1 when all closed accounts were turn on for "x" days anyone having problems.
Heck even DAoC has had offers for former players to come back. They want to try and get you interested enough to subscribe.. but it used to be tied around an expansion launch for most games.
Of course even if they gave me 6 months free I don't see anything I'd pay for in SWG atm.

Not sure when it started, recently i believe, but for some reason we havent nailed down yet not everyone has gotten offered. Even if you didnt get an email, if you are interested in the trial just go to the launchpad and enter your info. If you have more than one acct you may need to try all of them, one of mine worked the other didnt.

I dont know that ur in the minority. I had two accounts, one combat and one crafter, my combat toon can log in on the trial and my crafter cant. There seems to be a pattern as JR mentioned in the post above this, but I dont think we know for certain. I can affirm that I had a jedi char and bh char on my combat acct. fwiw. Of course, if the theory was correct, your bh should have gotten you in .... so maybe were back at square one...LOL Sorry, i know that wasnt much help, but it may have just been random, who the helll knows with SOE.....

This will all break down to logic and sense. Some people can see past all they did, Some cannot.
To me this is a product, of entertainment. My loss was to much to consider coming back in, on top of all the other issues. To me it is pretty much damage control at this stage, adding in things in broken manners NOT quite the same to try to fufill the needs and wants of people, Target Lock, Combat log, UI -- Slowing down combat -- even bounties was not going to make a return at one time.
NOT ONE OF THESE THINGS WAS EVER SLATED to make a return but they have had to spend time on it, add these in some fashion NOT EXACTLY like the pre-NGE days to try to hold on to what people they had.
The expertise was NEVER slated and again was damage control... by adding it in based on peoples scream for diversity.
All in all this has turned into one giant game change into DAMAGE CONTROL... not a advancment..nothing more then a "Oh crap, we better add in XXXXX and XXXXXX then bring back XXXXXX and XXXXXX then claim we are doing well because we did this, sure it's not the same but HEY what will they know"....
So far bringing things back is exactly the proof that the idea of the NGE is a failure... 11 months later and the thought of HAVING to bring things back so people we be almost happy proves this.
But see, this is logic. Passion and Logic do not have enough space to be in the same room here. The NGE was NOT MADE TO BRING BACK OLD WAYS... but now it is being forced to ATTEMPT to be this.
I find it funny each time I see somthing brought back, that we already had .. then someone say "GREAT JOB DEVS!!! , This is what we needed?!" When in fact we freaking already had it once and they took it away.
Logic at it's best no doubt now.

Even if you feel so strongly about the game that you really want something to be changed
or even fail, you should have realized by now that the incessant nagging doesn't do you much good.
It has been going on for years, even pre-NGE and where has it gotten you?
Even if you just want to "hurt" SOE, you should know that even negative publicity is still publicity.
And in conclusion... it's only a friggin' game!!!!

*I* never thought much of the fact they offered the trial.
They have done that so many times in EQ1 for former players... its just part of how they operate.
The only thing I found strange... was how many people couldn't take part of the offer. I never remember in EQ1 when all closed accounts were turn on for "x" days anyone having problems.
Heck even DAoC has had offers for former players to come back. They want to try and get you interested enough to subscribe.. but it used to be tied around an expansion launch for most games.
Of course even if they gave me 6 months free I don't see anything I'd pay for in SWG atm.

There is nothing wrong with veteran players talking about a game experience they've shared, but it just gets laughable if all they do is go on about how bad it is now and how the company that issues it are thieves, etc.

You had to know what kind of reaction you would get purposely attacking the majority of people on the board. If you find it laughable, by all means start a thread discussing the things you want to talk about. I have certainly started many such threads talking about things I miss and used to enjoy and would gladly participate that kind of discussion as well. I wonder why you care what other people choose to do with their time.....

Hence, why ChrisCao, Thunderheart, and Helios were out flamebaiting last night hoping to catch them some disgruntled vets.
They know that if they post some inflamatory crap, the vets will line up to logon, just to flame them back.
After they do that, they'll have 20 days to beta test for 'em, and get system moles and data miners installed.
