    Finally some decent caster screens.

    Thanx.

Not the best but, not to shabby, either.

What I love is their level of detail.  Did you notice the dual knife wielder had a ring on?  That you could actually SEE?

Now, questions for anyone who may be able to answer this.   Is that ring an actual ingame item?  Or is it just part of character costume? (not judging either way, just curious)

If it is an ingame item, can it be crafted?  Imbued/enhanced? If the character had more than one ring (or an amulet/necklace), would they be visible if worn on the outer layer of their outfit?

    Nice screenshots.

     Wow....

    Its looking nice isnt it....

Not hard to see the BMq influence though. Those screens could have just as easily been from EQ(x). Not that its a bad thing, I think they all look beyond expectations for me.

Still pretty excited about this game. Im looking forward to Age of Conan somewhat more, but I doubt I will be able to resist playing VSoH.

So they bought EQ2 engine and made EQ 2.5?

  • nomadiannomadian Member Posts: 3,490

Ya, they do look pretty good.  But the style differs from EQ2 and you can tell they use a lot of the more system intensive features more sparingly then EQ2 does.

That’s a good thing by the way.  Targeted use of some of the more demanding features is definitely the way to go.  EQ2 got itself in trouble assuming system power was just going to keep going up and up so they could throw high polygon counts, lighting features, shadows, etc, etc etc wherever they wanted and the hardware would eventually catch up.  When it didn't they were stuck with to much geometry, to many textuturs and too much texture detail for the available hardware to handle.

I just dont like the looks of it that much.  Detail is good, but It (graphics) just seems boring.

  • SassymolassySassymolassy Member Posts: 363
The problem is that the colors are so drab.  Thats how EQ2 was also.  The characters are the only thing in the wolrd with any variety of color.

All is true about similarities to eq2 graphic

But if you notice they are not using all the reflection/retraction bulshit - meaning the game will be playable.

Eq2 had some of the worse graphic in MMOS up to date - but not many people post about or know that Eq2 have the best  animation in MMOS up to date.

If your system can run it , you will see that every movement is motion captured and realistic , even fascial expressions.

Problem is Sony fired Art direction team , so the graphic was developed withouth artistic guidance...

Eh, I think every new game looks like another game (maybe not so strange after all) WAR looks like WoW Vanguard looks like EQ2 and so on.

But Vanguard sounds interesting I'll give it a go when it's released like every other MMORPG I try

  • DimitrioDimitrio Member UncommonPosts: 152

They bought Unreal engine and is heavily modfied, the graphics are a lot better than EQ2 graphics and if we talk about graphics, all the magazines agree that EQ2 graphics are the best at the moment. some said " The graphics look boring?",  so which are funny graphics for you?

The graphics of Vanguard are better than EQ2 graphic, there's a thread at Vanguardsoh.com with the comparison between Vanguard elfs vs EQ2 elfs. look for it.  Anyway I am going to use photoshop and and make another comparison "graphics vs graphics", wait for it.

And for those that enjoyed the graphics, I am glad you did, as much as I did posting them for my guildmates and share with the rest of you. I hate thumbails, that's why I put them in their original size or rezise them with photoshop.

Two thoughts occured to me while viewing those pics:

    1) Why is every shot from beneath looking up at the model?

2)That looks an awful lot like EQ2

Wow,The last one with the gnome mage looking guy looks pretty awesome :)

  • RattrapRattrap Member, Newbie CommonPosts: 1,599
Ok , so the graphic look like EQ2

But it is also obvious that it is much less system heavy.

And i see very detailed armor , quite lush forests etc...

Anyway since when is graphic the most important thing ?

I think some people feel that Vanguard will be the true EQ sequel. There seem to be a lot of EQ players that dislike EQ2. If you think about it from that perspective, then the screenshots fit perfectly. Also, not surprising there will be similarities with EQ/EQ2 considering Sigil's Team.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Especially the one of the gnome character.

the quality looks good but why do all MMOs have to look so tacky colour wise? always the glow dust everywhere nearly every screen shot on that page has some form of ambient glow dust..

its like the first thing developers do is develop the glow dust system to conceal any graphical flaws and scare away people past age 10

?? How can you tell the game is using less system intensive features based on a screenshot?

It's funny how people can make assumptions based on little to no experience.

As far as the artwork goes, it's as boring and generic as EQ2

    EverQuest II was a Disneyland.

Vanguard is the first traditional high fantasy world... well, ever available online, really.

I'm no fanboy. I have my own complaints, it's just that they are definately not in regards to the graphical quality or atmosphere. Pure fantasy-novel goodness. The great artists Keith Parkinson and Brom really showing their stuff.

If you work as 3d graphic designer , you can easily ...
