Creepiest thing to ever happen to you related to SWG?

TillerTiller Member LegendaryPosts: 11,485

Brought over from the Bloodin forums. Anyone who played on that server may know Ars of VoD. This is pretty creepy.

/copypaste

Almost posted this in SolidPwnge's post but it is game related so I started a new thread...

Creepiest thing to ever happen to myself related to the game would have to be the VoD cantina fiasco (first one..lol).

A very disgruntled guild member defected, taking his entertainer gf with him, she had placed our cantina.

I and a few other members recieved countless threats from this guy.

Our guild was built on ALOT of members being from Michigan and talk of where we all lived in vent was commonplace.

He claimed he was looking for our house, to come kick my azz, found the right street but couldnt find the right house.

After a few days (allegedly) of not being able to pinpoint my exact home, he found another way to 'get back' at me.

Upon leaving VoD, they struck a 'deal' with an infamous bloodfin badguy to sell our cantina for $200 via Paypal.
Eventually the drama subsided and we forgot all about this guy.

Eight months later when chatting with an ex-guildee & RL friend of the creep, we recieved some disturbing info.

The guy was no longer a threat to us since he had been put away for 15-40 on attempted murder (he went after the girl who placed our cantina).

Thank god he never actually found our house.

Damn, that's going to be hard to top, unfortunately :(  Glad it was only attempted and not actual murder

    Lol good one,

On Bria there was some jedi who claimed to have taken out legal action against two BH's who were supposedly griefing him. I think his name was something like Chosen One, the  posts are probably still on the Bria forums somewhere, not sure what happened in the end though.

Sorry if I pulled a nerve there, I think this thread will prove that assholes can turn up just about anywhere.

Just watching the <ST> video put a tear in my eye, reminds me of when I started as a noob on Bria a long, long time ago..

I cant  top that one, but heres mine....

I had a stalker for several weeks, who followed my entertainer around making really racially, and sexually offensive remarks and just generally  harrassing all the girls in the cantina.  Not just somebody acting up but really offensive stuff which clearly were against the rules.  We would all /addignore but he would appear 30 min. later with a new char....  Anyway, just went on and on.  Dozens and Dozens of tickets filed by 10 or more people, not only didnt bring any relief they didnt even bother to respond.  I went to the forums asking for help, but my posts were deleted.   Perhaps, It got to me more than it should but when you have been in a real life abusive relationship and someone (even if its a virtual someone) following you around saying hes going to rape you can get pretty upsetting.

When I finally decided I was not going to get any help from SOE, I took matters in my own hand.   Luckily I had been playing for awhile and had a pretty good network at the time, through a very successfull crafting business, a very social entertainer, and a main combat toon who had given away many buffs, been uncountable number of hunting groups, and basically like to give away lots of money (one of my favorite passtimes along with helping out noobs).   I sent out a blanket email from all three toons to evryone on my friends list offering a milll creds to each every person who sent me a pic of this guy blackbarred or otherwise humiliated, additionally I explained the situation to people so they could give him the same treatment, banned him from my shop and got him banned from a huge number of shops on the server,  nearly every ent on the server had him on their do not serv list or whatever they used to call it.   Long story short, it cost me 10 or 20 mill and alot of effort, but by the end of the week i noticed that the guy never logged on to the server again.  YAY!!    But anyway, it was pretty creepy for awhile.

I think I remember this from a forum discussion.  There were numerous idiots telling you to get over it, it's just a game if the event I recall is yours.  Man, that thread set me ablaze.  I wanted to kill the stalker and beat on all those insensitive little morons who added to the grief of the OP, not to mention the CSRs who would not respond.

I'm glad you were able to resolve your problem.

I realize I said I quit. I never said it was forever :)

I remember another imbecile at Bria too, named "Denzel Washington" ( I doubt it was him really :) who caused a lot of trouble to our city and lots of headache to me (the mayor) and a mate (guild leader and co foudner).

He spent a long time harrasing our entertainers, told other guilds that we wanted to make war with them, etc...

I guess after tons of reports he got SoEd (or maybe they hired him for community relations?)

He had a few friends but he was the main problem.

That was probably me, they kept deleting my posts without recommending a solution and i kept reposting it.  I still wonder what was wrong with me posting my dilemna, I was asking for advice and trying to get the attention of a mod that i thought would surely want to help.   Thanks for being supportive, despite the pricks on there, there were also many that were supportive like you.   Eventually, we ostracised the punk to the point he couldnt have been able to function.  Payback is a bitch....

Also on Bria (guess a server that large had to have its share of nuts), met a 40+ year old man (I'm 30+) who claimed he loved me and wanted to marry me (and not talking about in-game roleplaying).  We chatted quite a bit in game, in IM, and on the phone.  We would play the game together for hours at a time. We met 1 time in real life at a coffee shop then spent a couple of hours at my parent's house before he said he had to leave (we were from the same state in cities about 5 hours apart...I was very "cautious" in how we met because I had caught him in a few lies about things in the game and had several "red flags").  Shortly after our meeting I "called it off" as he put it and changed servers.  I dabble in family tree stuff using a computer program and certain websites.  He'd claimed to be related to someone famous so after we'd parted ways I got curious one time while on one of these website, I input his name to see what would come up.  He'd said he'd been married years ago and had a 20-something daughter.  The information that came up showed him as still living with his THIRD wife who'd he'd been married to for around 10 years.  I was VERY glad that I was so cautious in our "relationship."  What I don't get is why he was so persistent...I tried to push him away several times in the few weeks I knew him.  The reason I left Bria was he was still pressing for a "relationship" after I'd "called it off" and he'd agreed to be in-game friends.

On a side note, I seem to attract these types of situations.   I had 1 other male in SWG who wanted to have a "real life relationship" and had 1 in WoW who wanted to "get to know [me] better" for the possibility of a "real life relationship."  Guess that's what comes of being such a nice person.

Well Creepiest experience, I really have not had any, but the weirdest for me was when I drank to much at a party and ended up at my assistants flat, at about 4 ish in the morning I was in her kitchen looking for some strawberries and on my way back to bed I took a look around, I went in her office and found she had a collection of video games, so I took a look and noticed she had SWG. As it turned out she plays SWG and was on the same server as me. Small world. Bring it on down now.

Damn byotch dat aint no friggn moon fool, dat be a friggn space station byotch.

My smuggler had someone bug them to no end to slice a container. Long since gave up public slicing only for pa a choice friends . Finaly after being pestered agreed to it Big mistake

After slicing their container it had the usual cdef pistol and a foodage in it they became irrate started yelling at my smuggler. Hitting main area for chat told him he was lucky to get anything in the container usualy they are empty.
He started cussing toon did a /log and folks in cnet started harrassing that player instead.

Smuggler never sliced again in public after that one .

During the days of live enteratiners before holo grinding and afk botters had several at least 1 per day harrasment epeisodes. Usualy had pa memebers on or around and would place a /tell and get some assitance.

After that happened more and more some of the pa's on the server had there folks "moniter theeds " and the other cantinas that had live entertainers, and harras players back that pestered the live enteratiners.

That approach worked well till Cu when enteratining proffesion emptied out and less players were around to "watch over their own"....When nge hit finding a live entertainer was almost useless unless an alt of someone that just did not want to /respec

Had someone try something similar with my Doctor/Dancer alt pre-CU.  I've always had both male and female characters, and I don't roleplay.  Well, I always joked that my female toons are lesbians :)

The funny thing was, my original toon, a male Bothan (who eventually was Jedi right after the CU) was my original doctor.  Did pretty well with him, but when I went pure FS grind with him I created Maaraa to be my "support" toon with Doctor/Dancer.  She got MUCH better tips than he did.  I'd ask for 10K for doc buffs (and I always made sure I had the best) and people would tip her 20K.  I guess if you want to sell services, it helps to have boobs.

The toon I've played the most so far in EQ2 is a female elf wizard, so far no harassment.

At one time I got so tired of people in the buff lines proposing marriage to my Dancer/Doctor alt that I married her to my Bothan.

I had forgot all about this one until I read this thread.  A couple of months into the game, say late Sept. early Oct. '03, someone asked me, hey man what's up with your guild leader, he named his main and alt after gay porn stars. LMAO.

It made me a little uncomfortable, not so much in interacting with the guy as he was nice enough, but more so from the concern that it might hurt he guild.  It worked itself out as he stopped logging in shortly after that.

Other creepest thing was reading an article on CNET news about massive changes to SWG on Nov. 3, 2005.  That was very disorienting to find out about it there.  Of course I didn't know the half of it.  /sigh

I doubt any of us could have foreseen the horrors that awaited us at that time.  I certainly never would have guessed that such a thing was possible....   /shudder

Like I mentioned elsewhere, 2 days before it went live I was on the forums trying to urge people to remain calm and give it a shot.  But that was when I thought they would actually spend time to fix all the broken crap.  What a naive nooblet I was!  I quit 5 days later.  I guess I'm a quick learner.

The guy I purchased food and drinks off sent a mail out to all his customers. He explained to everyone that he was going to take his life because of reasons I can't remember. I ended up talking to some of his friends, they informed me that the police had found him on the floor of his kitchen with wounds to the chest.

    Man you were the optomist!

Once I got to the official forums and read what the NGE entailed, I cancelled both characters on the spot.  Although my subscription didn't expire until Nov. 27th, I didn't want my characters tainted by the NGE, so my last logout was Nov. 14th.  I also didn't want anyone to think I was in anyway support that bunch of cutthroats by logging in while the NGE was active.
