Final Fantasy XI gets worse as you play.

Don't worry I'm not an EQ freak or anything.. this is my first and only mmorpg. I thought the game started out great but now it's getting ridiculous. Now you have to do all these quests in order to level every five levels (as I'm sure some of you know.) I don't have a problem with that really but my problem is they are so freaking hard that you need to find players of a higher level than yourself to help. So bascially you can spend a week begging everyone you see to help you (to which 99%) of them wont... Personally I hpoe Final Fantasy XI changes this. Anyone else having/had the same problem? It's just..... dumb, which is a shame because it was a really good game.

    first of all u dont have to ask anyone unless ur a white mage or a black mage if ur a fighter/healer (paladin)
    or caster/fighter (forgot name) u dont really need to. as long as u have good equipment u should doo fine. if u really need help....... MAKE FRIENDS!!!!!!! duh!

    That's really untrue. I've done Genkai 1 and 2 without any help from higher level players. You don't NEED high level help. Just put in your search comment that you need/are willing to help with Genkai 1, 2, 3, whichever one you're on and eventually you'll get it.

    I sort of agree, though. The game certainly gets more DIFFICULT as you progress. Then again, where's the fun if you can hit lvl 75 in a month?

    Interesting. You have to do quests every five levels? Damn, you should tell my character that 'cause he ain't listenin'. First quest that you must complete to level is level 50.

    god ive been playing FFXI since october and it didnt get MMORPG of the year for nothing. This board is full of whiners, FFXI is great!

    Ya it was MMORPG of the year only because there was no competition.  Poop Throwers Online would have beaten it.  Dont worry when a halfway decent MMO comes out FF will go bye bye.

     

    If its true that when you drop a cat it lands on its feet or if you drop toast it lands butter-side down... what happens if you strap toast to a cats back and drop it?

    /shrug only the fanbois like you will keep playing just to try to spite everyone.  Most of the people on the IGN forums say they will leave when a decent game comes out, at least temporarily if not permanently.  Theres 5 posts alone on this forum just on the first page saying how much this game blows or people quitting, not a good sign.

    And Samusic fix your sig, Im gettin tired of the red X in the white box.

     They add in alot of quests and missions because the majority of mmorpg players sometimes get sick of killing monsters for 7 hours straight. I love how they add in quests and missions along the way, it's a great opporunity (sp?) to explore the world, meet friends while getting rewarded for it.

    Glad to know youre keeping tabs on me, but I dont post in any other forum about FF.  IGN yes a while ago.  Once I get my $50 wasted outa bitching about it I hope I'll be able to go on with life.

    Ramadin ramadin ramadin we just don't know what to do with you. Hopefully EQ2 will come out soon so you have something else to do. I thought you had some other Knight game or whatever to play so play it and talk about how good it is and just let it go we know you don't like FFXI you have made that clear time and time again so why don't you leave in peace and just have fun with games you like instead of trying to make all of us angry which is quite pitiful I might add. So goodbye and goodluck with your other games hopefully you'll find one you like.

    Wow I was just trying to have a discussion about if you think it gets worse as you play and instead you attack me personally. I know several people who have had the same problem as me and when I'm in Jeuno it's spammed with shouts. As to the one person who was being a total jerk... I too think quests are good but in the event of leveling they should be easy enough to do on your own.. such as going to a particular spot like the Bard Quest although for the AF (while someone of them are near impossible for me to get) I can understand that being more difficult.

    Sorry I ever said anything negitive about the game because of course if it's bad it's immediatly untrue. Everyone has their opinion, deal!

    i totally feel it, i been playing this game since NA release...its got alot of great features...but high level play is extremely annoying...the uber pt is needed to level...and for all those people that say JP are nice...sure they are nice to you, when it comes to killin occassional NM if they happen to be in the area...but this completely changes if looking for a group/or members. genkei1 what a bunch of crap....lets give something completely needed to advance any further in the game, lets just make one of the items ULTRA RARE drop...it took 5 hours just to get 1 papyrus to drop, hmm so what about the 5 other players who need it too yay so much fun. u got 5 melee classes so similar, that it really doesnt matter who or what u pick to fill that role, so its even more fun....oh and to any new players, absolutely DO NOT pick english as your language on party menu, as it automatically brands you a n00b no matter what your play skill level is. also to new players seriously consider making 5 of your friends play also, youll need them to actually get a PT after 50 image

    I really liked this game the first few months it was out...xp grind, whats new?!?, its the sitting in town for 5-12 hours i find completely unacceptable image

    I don't want to lock this thread guys, try to keep on topic and refrain from insulting/attacking the other posters image. The original poster brought up something he/she feels is wrong with the game, there is nothing wrong with expressing this (or the opposite for that matter) on these boards, but play nice image.

    Well I just have to add my 2 gil in.  I played AC2 for a year and essentially it has what some of you are asking for, that is a way to level without grouping, questing, etc.  Well I have to tell you that lvling gets dull...really dull.  You need the story elements and quests in order to feel that you are having some impact on the virtual world.  If you want to solo everything, then you should be playing one of the many 1 player RPG on the market.  MMORPG's should take time, and (GASP) socialization to grow your character.  Otherwise you are only playing a glorified 3rd person shooter.

    IT's the people and the story that make the difference!
