I was browsing through the threads and saw this about DnL's failure:

"Farlan blaming it all on the fans"

.....you gotta be kidding me? Is this true? What's the story behind it? Any links or is this just an exageration?

I just can hardly believe my eyes that someone has said the makers of the crappy game blame the FANS to flee responsibility. How arrogant can you be?

Of course it's the fans' fault. They expected to be able to play a game they paid for. What the hell were they thinking?

You'd have to look harder on past threads in order to get the full version. But Farlan claimed that they released DnL under the dual pressures of "The fans and monitary reasons". That combined with the fact that Farlan/NpCube has ignored their fan base for the most part has pretty much made these 2 companies taboo for future games. The company, AD(Alchemic Dreams) did a horrible jod in handling the fanbase from a GM/monitoring standpoint. Often banning players from the forums without a legitamate reason and giving favored fans advanced recipies to make gamebreaking weapons/armor. None of it is as cut and dry as that but that is pretty close as far as I'm concerned...

Played Wow, D and L, AOC, GW, Eve, Rift and many more insignificant games.

Don't forget the part where he also said DnL was doing so bad was because the posters at MMORPG gave it bad reviews. I thought  he did anyway.

Yes. I believe they said it was jaded SWG refugees for the most part that came on here and gave DnL a bad name. I never played SWG and I'm calling the shots as I see them...In other words, DnL is the worst mmorpg of all times.

You're probably looking for the good old "double pressure of its impatient community as well as a financial pressure" excuse for a crappy game

That was on a pack of lies announcement on their site ..

Don;t forget when Farlan blame trhe game not working on the fans computers.

Hard to forget when they claimed there was vast organized conspiracy of fans dedictated to hacking into their game and thats why they had such stability problems.

As another poster said its the malicious fans writing the truth about DnL that has caused severe damage to their game.

But in pretty much every statement its allways someone elses  fault their game only has 20-30 players left playing.  Never the devs fault.  Never theior fault for lying to people, over  promising, realseing the worst game ever made.  Nope, its always someone elses fault.  Which really gives us some insight on why this game failed so badly.

No, Actually they are French.(Not that nationality has anything to do with the game...and it doesn't.)

They are located on a group of Islands in the Indian ocean I believe. And despite their location, they are French. I can't remember if those islands are owned by France or not. Silly me!!!

But all that doesn't matter. It doesn't mean a flaming pile of donkey manure who made this hellhole of a game except the name of the company... Bringing up nationality is just "infra172's" way of starting a controversy that doesn't need to be started. So he can just shut his mouth. Saga of Ryzom is a game created by a French company and is very successful at the moment. In fact, they are everything that DnL should have been. An interactive and down to earth company that has satisfied their customers where ever they could. Like I said, nationality has nothing to do with it...Hope I helped Kraptor! Take care...image

Thanks Pix! It's unfortunate that this conversation had to be started because of an ignorant comment about nationality...
