I chosed other because it lacks EVE online... For me this game haves the best Roleplaying Community in MMORPG history. And I got a bug and even the GM's did Roleplay so yes... Eve wins
I have to agree the only game I have truely seen roleplaying dominate large areas of the game is in UO. Many guilds would go around defending areas of the map in the name of there guild.

Best RP so far in UO.
never played UO, so i can't say nothing about it, but WoW in the RP servers you can see a guild or two that do RolePlaying. My guild (oaken Soul) did and does roleplaying. but yea all that "leet" guys from pvp server come to the RP servers thinking that they are the bad asses and don't respect the rules... and blizzard does notthing about it..
There is RP in WoW ( The RP servers of course ) but you have to look for it. Usually you could get lucky and run into to someone who will RP. Its said that most people who go to a RP server dont go for the RP, but for a mature community.
None of the above choices. I found the best RPing in the game Horizons and Saga of Ryzom which has a small but close knit RP community. Actually mainstream games have hardly much RPing community, if you want the best RPing you need to find a niche game such as Dark Ages (www.darkages.com).
I Honestly think that the game with the best RP is going to be Age Of Conan by Funcom®. Because of the new combat styles and making you play offline before online, Also how you control your combat. Its going to be very exiting to people who enjoy RP'ing.
Ich also chose other, but only to see the results *shame on me* I haven't played many mmorpgs, so I can't really say which has the best rp. of the ones I've played it is surely guildwars, but I quess there are games with a better rp

Agreed, UO wins by a mile. so much so I'm actually thinking of returning to it since I'm fed up of WoW and DAOC

From all the MMORPGs I ever played Starwars: Galaxies would win. Until the CU1 there was a plenty of RP, nearly no harrasments and so on. I had 1.5 years of funny RP and a very good community. And SWG has the best range of RP supplies: you can get faction items for outdoor RP events, you have hundreds of wonderful furniture and many emotions, your character can do. With all the nice RP-Skills like singing or dancing SWG is the best mmoRPg for me!
Id have to say my best roleplay experience has come from EvE online. You see when you paly eve you basically paly yourself, as in the people in the future eve universe are a lot like us. So you work with your corp doing the various activities that make things work and when you interact with outsiders like rivals or customers you operate like you would in real life.
If its a customer be polite and a bit chummy while making a deal that has something your corp wants.
If its an enermy well you basicly tell them to **** off then get ready to fight if they dont.
So basically 99% of the eve comunity Roleplays because it comes so natrally no need for Thees and Thou's just act natrally.
Ryzom, though I haven't played it long seems to have a high amount of RP. WoW did for a time, but I doubt any remains at all anymore
Eve had a lot of RP, but was counteracted by the INSANE amount of leet spewing twits who were there for PvP and PvP alone. SWG, for all it's lowpoints, did have some decent RP though you had to go way out of your way to find it.
Whoever voted for FFXI was on crack, simply put. I've played that game for nearly three years now and have never, in my extensive cross server search found a lick of RP. In fact, most times I mention RP I honestly get an response of "RP? huh?".
Best RP I've found by far is EQ2s Antonia Bayle server, I tried Lucian D'lere, the other RP server first and was highly disapointed. Antonia Bayle however, a community that frowns upon OOC in spacial anywhere, where stupid names are reported so fast their head spins. An RP event or more every night, open pubs, RP channels, player made events, forum RP, and random spacial RP. If only the game itself was more fun to play.
I am also going to have to go with EVE, It had in my opinion one of the best online rp communities I have yet to be a part of. Though I admit that I missed out on UO, which seems a shame when anyone mentions it. As for WOW I've played on rp servers almost exclusively for the two years I've been playing, there is no rp on WOW. Only people that occasionally dabble in trying something like rp until they get tired of how much effort it apparently takes.
Ryzom has the best RP community now. No leet speak, mature community, strange world, great lore and live events... With the Ring (an editor like the Aurora Toolset of NwN), Ryzom offers what no others MMORPG had ever given to the roleplay community.
Just below Ryzom, Eve Online is good. But there is a lot of leet speak beside.
Afterthat, SWG. The game was wonderful for RP before CU. Now, everyone is gone. But the RP is still here. A lot of ex SWG players play now on Ryzom : forum
Sorry for my bad english, it's not my native language.
I played UO since beta and I would have to say that Tram is wher you will find the RP, not soo much in Fel anymore... But I ended up quitting cuase of all the crap the devs let people do with cheating and duping and what not.... Also its become an Items type game which im sick and tired of....
I now play RV since beta, and I will say as many other MMO's I have played, Ive never have seen the need for as much RP as RV needs.... Although there are your usesual griefers who dont RP and do what they want, but the community looks down on these type players which in most cases makes them realize that the game play is much more rewarding when there is reasons for actions being taken...
Hands down I will say RV will most likely be the biggest RP type game in the future...

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
