Need a little advice on this game

Ok, I've had Guild Wars: Prophecies for quite a while, but I'm just starting to play again after a pretty long spell of me being bored with it. I am ready to now make a purchase for this game. Now, I never did buy Factions, so my question is would you suggest I get Factions before Nightfall or just wait and get Nightfall?

Wait, Factions price will drop once Nightfall is released and you can buy it then.

    Check for sales.
I recently picked up Factions for 29.99 at Circuit City.
Wal-Mart has Prophecies on sale for 37.98 this week.

I don't think Factions will drop in price anytime soon unless you catch it on sale. GW doesn't charge a monthly, so they make all their money by selling the software.

As for choosing NOT based on price: I liked Nightfall better. Why? It has some cool NPC customization now, and I like the African setting better than the Asian one. (Not that I didn't like Factions, I just like the look of Nightfall.)

Both games offer alot of extra content to the core game but what it all boils down to is the your taist in the game itself. IMO Factions was more based with PvP in mind. I personaly am more of a PvE player and although I have Factions I dont access its content much anymore. Pretty much I paid the game cost to gain access to the Rit just to move him over to the core game and do the PvE missions.

Nightfall is going to be more like the core game than Factions was. As with the other guys... If your a die hard PvE player then wait and find Factions on sale somewhere.

Well we don't really know everything about NF.  I don't like to recomend games on hype alone.

My main jist was... Don't buy this week.  AKA don't buy Factions for $50  this week (you own prophocies), because once Nightfall releases you should be able to buy it for less.  Or Buy Nightfall.

So instead of getting up to two $50 games you'd likely do $40 and $50.  However if faction is on sell for $30 i doubt it will drop lower then that consistantly anytime soon.

If you swear to us you will only buy 1 game.  Wait for NF.  Even though it isn't released and everything is not known about it.  From what we were able to verify in the weekend events, it is still likely going to be a better value (longer PvE game) and more enjoyable for most players then Factions.  And will have a bigger effect on gameplay (as Agent_X7 mentioned) with the hero system.  The only factions only booster is material storge (stroage for iron, steel colth etc - lets you hold 250 of each without using your normal storage space), and I hope to all five GWs gods that Anet gives that to Nightfall buyers, otherwise they are forcing people to "buy factions for extra stroage" which would be pretty lame.

If you are considering getting both games keep in mind if you buy factions before NF releases (2 weeks) you will likely find yourself halfway through the factions campanign when Nightfall opens it's doors.  If there is a good time to renter the game it would be to start Nightfall at release (first 1-2weeks).  I wouldn't want to have a char halfway through factions and need to stick that on the back burner so I could enjoy Nightfall, but that's just me.

One thing to keep it mind is Factions added Alliance battles (PvP).  3 options as for as I recall.  Those three PvP options are arleady VERY underplayed.  I think after NF releases the problem will only be worse.  So if you buy Factions for extra PvP options you may be disapointed.  Because you will likely not be able to play in 2 of them, because Jade Quarry and Fort Aspenwood typically don't have enough people on each side to start a battle, unless you schd (using forums) before hand.  AKA think of randoms arena if you were the only person in the district and the computer is trying to make 8v8 teams.  The other simply called Alliance Battles  is 12v12.  Most of the time one american district up.   This arena is more like TA.

But as I said I expect all these areas to become less played once NF comes out.  Only Faction players can play at these places.  So NF "newcomers" won't be added to the alliance battles population, and the people already there will likely move on to NF (at least for awhile).  The biggest advantage factions has is you can hit lvl 20 and be at the skill train that sells every basic skill in ~ 5 hours.  Where-as in prophocies you need to get to the ring of fire for that to happen (>20 hours), so if a person just wanted to unlock certain skills for PvP factions would let them do that quicker.  We don't know how long it will take in NF, but I do know I player >5 hours during the PvE preview and didn't hit lvl 20 and didn't find the all skill NPC.

I understand why they did it this way, but I think making any of the pvp arenas campaign specific is probably a bad idea.  PvP is heavily influenced by population fluctuations.
