I've got an account with a Level 65 Beastlord on it. I've also played a cleric from level 1 to 65 but sold out when moving to college. I also sold my magician i played from 1 to 65 at the same time. I'm done with college now, and have been playing a lot of MMORPGS. Horizons, Silkroad, and WoW are the main ones I've played longer than a day since EQ.
So what is new in everquest? My last expansion was LDoN, and I didn't get much into it. I am an old Plane of Power person who leveled up in the planes mainly Plane of Justice, Plane of Innovation, and Bastion Thunder back then.
I've read up and noticed SoE has released tons of expansions since LDoN, and this is a very different game now. Some of the best tanks back when I played only had 8k HP max. Now I see there are 13k-14k HP tanks wow! I really loved playing this game, and I lived to play it for a while. Would wake up, and play all day, and go to bed playing.
I'm never going to be that way again due to not being a kid anymore enjoying my last summer of freedom. Is it worth even getting back into this game? There are so many expansions that have been released since LDoN that I would be looking at close to 100 bucks or all of them.
THIS is the only freakin reason I got WoW instead of EQ, and tried these other MMO's is because of the expansion beast that is Everquest. I really loved getting AA's when I maxed out at level 65. I don't have the time or patience to RAID for 5 hours a day.
So how is the leveling from 65 to 75?
What Expansions DO I NEED in order to get groups for 65-75 ?
What are the best routes for getting these expansions?? Digital download, EQ Platnium?
If I choose to come back I'll be a level 65 beastord on Fennin-Ro. It used to be Torvonolus until it merged with some server. Give me some advice, I'm tired of WoW, I just can't get into it.

If I were thinking about getting back in and hadn't gotten any expasions since LDoN and didn't want to drop too much money on it, I think I'd buy Titanium, skip Prophecy of Ro right now(to pick up later, maybe), and get The Serpent's Spine. Just my $0.02, for which someone will undoubtedly come along and call me an idiot. You NEED Omens of War to level to 70 and The Serpent's Spine to level to 75-- Those expansions had the cap increases. Omens of War is in the Titanium pack, though.
I've been splitting time between new characters (new race in the new expansion) and my level 70 who is a hair away from dinging 71 now. I've been getting my experience in new zones, and in missions in The Nest (Dragons of Norrath-- not even doing the mission, just getting the exp in the instance) and doing Depths of Darkhollow spell missions. Riftseekers in OoW would still be good exp, but I am never online at the same time with the guildies who still go there. Most of the time, I've been getting craptastic exp tanking for lower level guildies in Wall of Slaughter (OoW) and Arcstone (PoR). Blah. (It just sucks, but it's making me more popular with the guild. LOL)
My husband's mage is most of the way through 72. 66 seems to go a lot faster than 65, but by the time you get to 70, it's a bit of a drag again, and then 71 goes faster than 70. (At least that's how it appears to us.)
I am a non-raiding SK with a pretty small pool of AAs (all defensive), and I hit over 11k hp buffed now. I have more hp unbuffed than I did fully buffed on my old 65 sk in the PoP era. Things are just a little different these days.

BoT has almost always empty, as far as I can tell. Sometimes there are people in Plane of Fire or Plane of Earth. Maybe it's different on other servers. Since PoP, there's been LDoN, LoY, GoD, OoW, DoN, DoD, PoR and TSS, which sort of makes it old school now, as weird as that sounds to people who were around from the beginning.

I am in a very similar boat. I have a 66 Mage, the last thing I did was get flagged for elemental planes. I have been playing WoW off and on for a year. WoW does not even compare to EQ's gameplay. It is a visually stunning game that has great concepts and poor execution. It is a game full of basic grinding and quest grinding.
I have a hard time coming back to EQ though. Everything is so advanced that I dont know that I will be comfortable coming back to and old game and being so far out of the loop.. I am afraid that it will ot be fun for me anymore. I have been searching to no avail for another game. Any EQ or ex EQ gamers have any ideas?
I really want a game that is centered on interaction and cooperation among players... It is no longer entertaining to run around doing highly detailed quests by myself. It is really quite boring. I tried EQ 2 for a period... I never got real far into it but it seem very similar to WoW, and all of its downfalls that that implies.
This gamer just wants to get back on the addiction wagon...please help!!

If you have any questions please ask. I have moved on to WoW from eq and no longer have any desire to play a dead game. Thank you. (posted by another selling his account in EQ1)
