Claiming names

I was told that by buying the Pre-order package that i can claim a name for my hero and it would be saved so that when it launches i will already have it. How can i do this if it is at all possible?

    When you get the preorder package it includes a cd with the game on it.

    Install the game and you can "quasi" register, including a character name I am pretty sure.

    you wont be able to register a character name until you are actually accepted into beta. using the name in the beta character creation will reserve it. the presale bonus disc doesn't give you the power, you've gotta wait until you get into beta.

    and as we're finding, the presale for CoH doesn't get you into beta nearly as quickly as for Lineage 2.


    hoopefully it'll be soon, though, i've got my superhero all thought out, and if its taken when i get there, i'll cry (well not really).

    I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath.

    Very well Said. I would also like ot point out that preorder disks should let in shortly in the next few weeks. Not all at the same time but the start of them will be soon! End of Transmission. 8 )

    Well if ya guys have original names then it shouldnt be to much a problem. But im sure their will be quite alot of miss hapes with names. I just dont want to see something like The Badger and then turn the corner to see a guy called The Bahdger

    I know for a fact that if you create a pre-order account, your account name will be reserved. Also, I think that even if you don't get the pre-order and go to http://www.plaync.com/ and create an account, your account name will be reserved.

    Not sure about character names. There is a rumor going about that if you create a char in beta, the name will be reserved. Then again it's just a rumor, so it might not be true.

    I also thought that i saw it posted somewhere that you would be able to keep the name you used in beta. This was something that had to do with the "pre-order" box though. I currently already received my pre-order box with the drink/cd/etc. stuff in it. Was so hoping that it would include the cd so i could play the beta, but well......... Also, anyone know when we will be able to start playing in the beta? I know this site is giving away some betas, but any ideas on when it will launch for those of us who pre-ordered?

    From what I read on the official forums, they will start letting in pre-orders gradualy starting next week. That doesn't mean that all pre-orders will get in next week. Testers will be added as needed. But, according to one of the devs, all pre-orders will eventually get into beta.

    My guess is that it will be 1-3 weeks before launch, durring the stress test phase.
